Veterans' Day
If you have ever served, no matter when, in which service, or for how long, you are my brothers and sisters. You raised your hand and pledged your life to protect and defend your country. Know that no matter how loudly others may bray their support for the USA, they have done nothing to actually defend it. You have. You are the honorable one percenters.
Nothing makes me prouder than to be among you and I salute you all.
Remember one more thing: our work is never done.

Yes, I raised my hand and took the oath - and It was never rescinded. At no time was I ever told "You are no longer bound by that oath". I never forget that.

Thank you Brother, myself and two cousins served from my generation and now many of my nieces, nephews and 2nd cousin have or are still serving. Just got the invitation to my Nieces husbands retirement party from the Airforce to be held in January. Happy Veterans day to us all!

Thanks Rocky! I followed in my fathers footsteps and served along with 2 of my brothers. I am also very proud to say that my nephew (sisters son) just retired from the Army last year. A decorated Bird Coronel.
I have the utmost respect for all of my fellow Veterans and wish everyone a happy Veterans Day!

Thank you. It brings comfort to be part of a family. I was drafted, but over the years I look back, and I am proud to have served. This is a great country to have lived in.

Thank you. Service had many hard times but also some fun times with buddies that I will never forget.

My dad served in Korea and we could never get him to talk about what happened over there. He's gone now but just a couple years before he passed he and his unit were (finally) awarded a Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism in combat. It doesn't seem possible but the dates added up to more than 440 days sustained in the thick of it.
I'm not even worthy to carry the boots of people like him. And you guys that served too.

Never served as deaf men don't last long in combat. . Thankful for all who did and do and made the sacrifice necessary to do so . Grandfather standing with drawn 1911in the middle belgium 1918 .Father on left ,with mustache , 82 second airborne France, sometime post d day .

I was an aircraft electrician with the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath in the UK 1968-1972
My father was a FO with K Company, Third Battalion, First Marines,1st Marine Div. 1940-46, and again 1950-53 in Korea. That's him in the back left, sleeves rolled up, camo cover with a round in his arms. Taken on the island of Peleliu, September 1944.

Interesting tidbit I learned today. The official name of the holiday does not use an apostrophe. Go figure. The given reason is that it is not a day for veterans, but for the rest of us to honor them. So again, thank you all for your service in whatever capacity it was or still is. I am very thankful.

Thank you to all you Veterans and those who have passed on: Grandpa was in France with Troop K 3rd Calvary WW1, Dad, Uncle Ollie, Uncle Grayson WW2 (Dad was a medic), First cousin and childhood fishing buddy Calvin was KIA 11/23/1967, B Co, 3rd Bn, 21st Inf, 196th Inf Bde, Americal Div. and I was Westy's driver at the Point. Yep, a lot of Mule Dust in the family.------------------------Ray

Seven years doesnt seem as bad now as it did then. Ive been getting more recognition in the last two years than I did in the previous 40.

Next door neighbor retired from the marines after 37 tears active and reserve service . Senior master gunnery Sargent Theodore Brenkworth . I once asked about Iwo and John Bradley . He said he served with John but couldn't talk about Iwo due to too many bad memories. He also served in Korea . Semper fi marine !

Wow.
Just reading the word 'Peleliu' makes my heart hurt.
He was an FO assigned to K Co., Third Battalion, First Marines. He landed on the extreme left of White Beach at " The Point", on D+1, then under the command of Capt. George Hunt. They were isolated from the main invasion force for 24 to 48 hours. When they were finally relived there were only seventy-eight men left out of the original two-hundred and thirty-five. I have a two dollar bill signed by everyone in my old mans amtrac.
Capt. Hunt wrote a book entitled " Coral Comes High". Its still in print...

I was an Air Force medic 67-71. Served proudly but would't want to do it again.

USMC 1988-1993.
Don't hardly remember the bad times, only remember the good times with brothers that had your back, no matter what.
Even the bad times were better than the crap show going on today...
