Our best from here. Is it a mental issue from the dementia or did she get hurt or come down with something?

I went through the same thing with my mother. We wound up moving her and her husband into a nursing facility. She loved it there. She was 91 when she passed away from a UTI.

Mom is in an independent nursing home now. Was disoriented this morning. Ambulance took her to the hospital. She may go back in a couple of days to independent care or I may put her in assisted living. Their call.

Dealing with same with mil . I was caretaker in daytime for last 3 months . Her health rapidly deteriorated to the point that we had to place her in a care home for dementia patients . She is doing well there. Heartbreaking what the disease does to them . Even worse is the toll it takes on family members ,not so much myself but my wife.

My aunt's last good day was her 100th birthday. (As a WWII Vet, the county gave her drive-by parade.) After that she went to an assisted living facility and has gone down hill for the past 5 months. A problem has been that they don't always put in her hearing aids & she doesn't know what is happening. Then, after a kung-flu 4 week lockdown, she forgot who we are. She has fallen several times & now has a compression fracture of a vertebrae. We're thankful that Hospice is now involved and she is somewhat unresponsive. I feel for anyone in a situation like this.

Been a terrible few days. Started by the ambulance taking Mom to the wrong hospital. Not the one her Dr. is at. Took me a whole day to figure out she was there. The hospital had my Power of Attorney but refused to honor it. Wouldn't even let me speak to my Mom on the phone or discuss her condition. Well I had a belly full of their ignorance and flat out told the nurse in charge... well honey I will see you in about 11 hours. I will have the POA and Health Power of Attorney and show the Judge you wouldn't honor it. She hung up on me. So as I was going up the drive headed that way... I stopped the truck and backed back down the drive. Came in and called Moms regular Dr. ( whom the hospital would not let see my Mom) and asked the nurse if she could call them and figure out why they were denying me access. I got a call back and they let me call my Mom. So she was released this afternoon. No clue what was wrong, I had no access or information given to me. I have to call my Moms regular Dr. Tomorrow to have those records transferred to her regular Dr. Wild thing was the attending Dr there issued Mom a prescription for anxiety . He didn't read her chart or find out she was already on a different anxiety med. That new med is on hold by the nursing home won't give it to her because she is already on another. If I live to be 100 I will never deal with that hospital again.

I'm sorry you are both going through this. We went through the same thing with Denise's dad a while back.

It looks like several of us are going through this now & others have either faced this or will go though this soon. Hospice politely informed me that my aunt is now "transitioning." Yes, thank you, I know she's dying. And, thank you for making her comfortable. You're all in my prayers.

There is not a reason for the hospital to not give you information. You may consider a complaint with the Indiana Dept. of Health. I would consider an attorney. At a minimum I would write a letter to the hospital administration.

It's good to hear she was discharged.

On a recent weekend visit to the ER, the Dr. spoke with the assisted living facility but couldn't reach their medical people. He raised a stink, which I pushed further. A great Dr. who included his personal phone # on his complaint. The facility now uses a new medical company. Thanks Doc.

I am sorry to hear what you are going through. I went through it with my Dad for 5 years. It was worse than any combat op I have ever been on.
