Don't use Fed Ex

Because only FFL dealers and manufacturers can mail handguns, UPS charges roughly the same as FedEx.

Try to find a dealer who will mail it for you. I do it for $30 plus the actual cost of postage and insurance, which seldom exceeds $30.

$30 for myself, $30 (or less) for postage... you save sixty bucks.

As a preemptive strike on a topic that has been discussed numerous times in the 19 years I've been on GB, this is the form you have to fill out and have on file with the PO to mail a pistol:

If you don't meet one of those two qualifications, you can't put a handgun into the US Mail.

I would say most every one is upset at shipping charges from any carrier and there all going up again after the fist of the year from what I have heard

shipping has killed a lot of deals and especially small items especially , I think the cheapest priority box is about 8 to $10.00 now its been a while since I sold and shipped any thing

As others have said, you could have saved a lot of money by going through your local FFL.

Amazed you only charged $30 for shipping…us normal folk can’t come anywhere near that on a pistol. Expensive lesson…welcome to the forums.

    OK :

Fed Ex is building a new place ( 200 jobs ) local ( Dothan , AL ) in the near future :

Ive never had any problems with them !

Now that Im in the condition I am in , may never have to worry bout such things .

Good Luck with all this , I think it will get worse before it ever gets better ...

    Thanks !!!

I won a High Standard .22 auto from a young man in Iowa or Idaho or somewhere in that direction. I sent him a copy of the pawnbroker’s FFL. He sent the pistol UPS to the man’s home address, not the store and did not declare it was a pistol, to save money.

I learned this on a Sunday afternoon and I called the store owner to make him aware of the situation. The store owner was extremely unhappy to contacted about business on Sunday and that was the last transfer he accepted for me and probably anyone. He said if it wasn’t for the risk of the ATF getting involved he would have returned the package.
