I was told my fresh bird was going to be more than that when I ordered it.

The key word there might be "kosher" which likely doubles the price or more.

I've never understood the desire to foist turkey upon folks at a special meal. Why not serve good meat?

Yum! The rest of the rib roast got sawed off into slabs and grilled outdoors over a high flame to just get that charbroiled flavor and a little singed around the edges. Best meat I've ever had.
