What You Cook'n for Christmas Dinner?
Seeing the post about the Rib Roast got me curious. This year my wife and I decided upon having FISH for our Saviour's Birthday dinner. She is having broiled Salmon and I will be doing fried Walleye. Also will be having shrimp cocktails and some fried Chinese chicken egg rolls.
I know the egg rolls fit the meal like round pegs in square holes but they are the easy way to get some vegetables on our plates and dipped in sweet & sour sauce.......YUM!

Wagu ribeye steaks, cauliflower casserole and bread pudding made with cinnamon spice donuts.

pecan smoked brisket, baked potatoes, and pot luck veggies (whatever someone brings). it will all b good.

At our family gatherings whatever the main course is, spiral sliced ham or prime rib, my wife MUST make Kapusta (Polish sauerkraut with fresh and smoked Kielbasa) for her Polish side of the family.

We are doing our family Christmas at lunch. We are simply going to do a big breakfast - eggs, gravy, biscuits, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes w/onion and green peppers. You know, all that stuff that clogs up arteries.

We are having ham today since the other half is working on Christmas day (she volunteers so she can have Thanksgiving day off). When I was still working I would always work Christmas so the folks with kids could be off, we started this "Tradition" back in the 80's when we first married.

Well on Christmas we have been invited to a neighbor's for Roast(pot roast I think?)with potatoes, onions, carrots, etc.
Tonight me and the warden are having Hood Canal oysters, Grays Harbor razor clams, and Argentinean shrimp all breaded and deep fried. We'll have air fryer french fries with all that.
We will have our family Christmas on New Years day, since our daughter, and her fiance are flying to NC tomorrow to surprise his parents. On New Years day we will have turkey and fixins.

Baby back ribs slathered in Jamaican Jerk seasoning, Red Lobster shrimp scampi (copy), sweet potato casserole, banana pudding. The family is bringing a lot of other fattening food. I expect to fall into a food coma about 6PM.

Prime rib, with all the fixin's and for appetizers, I made crab stuffed mushrooms, shrimp, clams casino, hot pepper salad, and venison tips, soaked in a Cajun marinade. Mom and Dad are here from Texas. Wish my sisters were here, but it is just too much to come here from Texas, when they all have grandbabies.

For the last 5 years we've been changing from Turkey to other main courses.. Last year was Lasagna (real good), before that was Kentucky Ham, Pork Roast, Duck, and Salmon.
This year Meat Loaf made with stuffing .
Thanksgiving is always Turkey and al the Goodies.

Double smoked Ham on the smoker for its second round right now. Salmon in too for smoked salmon dip.
Green been s casserole and sweet potatoes in the oven now too!

I am trying two rib roast. One in the oven using the method told on here. The other is in the smoker. Both are five pounders so will see which is the best. Don

All the kids and their babies were here yesterday for our big meal. We had Petit Jean ham and roasted chicken. Sides were spinach casserole, curry vegetables, sheet pan potatoes, broccoli casserole and pasta salad. For dessert, Reeses PB cup cheesecake, coconut cream, buttermilk and bourbon pecan pies.
Everyone got on the road after a breakfast of bacon, backstraps and country gravy. Was great having all four with their families here. I'm now enjoying a quiet glass of wine.

Leftovers from last night's potluck. Just me and my bride today. So relaxing.

I smoked a turkey breast for about 6hours over cherry wood.
I also served Sous Vide Spiral cut ham cooked at 140 degrees for 8 hours.
Both were great!

She who shall be obeyed cooked up quite a feast of turkey and all the fixings yesterday.
Had the oldest daughter and her boyfriend out. Wonderful time spent together.
Right now, I'm sitting out in a wooded crick line, with my middle daughter, waiting on a whitetail.
Little too warm, at 45°. Deer don't move much in this blasted heat.
But I love spending time outdoors with my kids.

Roasted a turkey breast and had dressing, roasted veggies, potatoes, gravy, rolls and topped it off with a slice of Judys homemade coconut fruit cake. New recipe for the fruitcake and it was excellent.
On a side note, I wonder what Great Guns prepared? I know some found him irritating but he did have some good recipes. Bob

We cooked a 6.5 lb. prime rib using Capt Fun's method. 4 hours at room temp and then into the oven after being rubbed with coarse Kosher salt and Johnny Salt. Took it out at 126 degrees (we like it a bit rare) for a 10 minute rest. WOW! It was perfect!

I asked the Granddaughter about a week ago what she wanted for Christmas and she said a Cat , guess dinner is at their house next year.

Went to three dinners this year, they all served ham. All kinds of sides, it was a good year.
