I hope the Marine enjoys a quick recovery and I'm glad no other decent person was injured.

That's a true story, it happened around 5 - 6 years ago. Things have changed a lot since then, now the Marines would probably be facing a court martial.

My beat partner and I used to discuss which hospital we were going to take a perp too if he resisted arrest. The general line of discussion was El Cajon Valley hospital were the odds of survival during a stay were low, and Grossmont Hospital which had a high survival rate.

Usually after a short while the perp decides to come peacefully. That is a much shorter report to write.

You'd be surprised at just how many fall & stumble while being placed into the back of a cruiser. 😉

My father always enjoyed telling of an incident at the Strong City 4th of July rodeo.

He and two other KHP troopers were working security and were confronted with a belligerent drunk in the stands. They got him out of the stands by cuffing him in the front, one trooper on each arm and the third had his ankles. When they got to the patrol cruiser it was as if on cue, both in front reached for the door latch, lost their grip and dropped the drunk on his face. Best part though was the trooper holding his ankles kept walking and shoved him half under the cruiser, in a gravel parking lot.

There was an occasional (prisoner) screen test on the way to jail too. Or so I've been told before mandatory shoulder belts.

@mrs102 You wouldn't be referring to a brake test & "waffleing," would you?

No. Those were always called a screen test in my part of the country.
