Bad News
Mother in Law died this last February. My Father in Law who was living alone 90 yrs old got his first delivery of Freshly foods last Weds. Another scheduled for this Thurs. We were going up there to visit but called to tell him today we were not making the trip. No answer on the phone. Wifes sister was there Sunday afternoon. We called back again an hour later..no answer. Called the Sister and she and her husband found him in bed.. cold as ice, deceased.

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like he went peacefully in his sleep. When the times comes that is probably the best any of us can hope for. Bob

Our best to all the family. 90 years old, taking care of himself and was able to go at home. Hope I'm that fortunate.

Aw man, I'm sorry to hear that. The hardest thing I ever had to do was lose my dad. He was my best friend, he was the voice of God himself on Sunday mornings, he was my hero, my Superman, my coach, my worst critic, my conscience... he made footprints I tried desperately to walk in, cast a shadow I could never quite measure up to, and bore a name I swore I would never tarnish. He was eternal. He had been there every day of my life, and he would always be there.... until the day that he wasn't. It knocked the wind out of me and left a big empty dad-shaped hole. I imagine it's even harder for your wife.
I'm sorry for you and your wife's loss. Especially this time of year. It's going to hurt like hell for a few Christmases, but it will get easier. Not better, but easier.

Very sorry for your loss Select-Fire. Remembering your post made not long ago about buying those meals for your FIL for Christmas. You were a very caring son for this and I'm sure for so much more. May he RIP and both you and your wife find the kind of PEACE that we here amongst the living long so greatly for.

After I called for a Welfare check on my Mom back in march I had no choice but to put her in a long term health care facility. Cost too much to have them come in the home 24/7. Spending the monies each month she left my 2 sisters in the bank as POA in her will. When it runs out I sell everything in the house and her car and nobody gets anything in the will. House is mine in a life estate. She goes on Medicaid at that point. She should outlive her money but who knows.

Coroner came late last night and will have to do an autopsy since it was at home. That could take a while since they are super busy.

That must be a state-by-state policy on deaths. My folks both died at home and there was no autopsy on either. No ambulance call, no doctor present, not much expense at all. That is the way they wanted it.
They were both under hospice care and those folks are wonderful.

Sorry to hear that SF. Only thing comforting about this is the fact that he probably didn't suffer any. Still doesn't make it any easier for his loved ones. Prayers sent for everyone in your family.
Since I've been in the hospital this past week with the block arteries in my heart and I'm living alone now that June died 6 weeks ago I have to call my 91 year old Mom early every morning when I wake up or she'll call my neighbors to check on me to see if I'm still alive. I call her anytime that I'm going to be away from the phone for any length of time so she won't go bananas if she calls and I don't answer. I keep telling her "Mom, I'm doing fine and to not worry" but it doesn't do any good. So I try to do what she says so she don't worry. She said I had better call or she'd call 911 if she can't get hold of my neighbors. Moms...they never stop worrying. I call her Teflon Mom 'cause there's no germs or diseases that'll stick to her.
