She's wrong. Whiteness is actually a mutation. 10,000 years ago one individual somewhere in West Asia is thought to have been born with a mutation that gave him white skin and all white Europeans, North Africans, and West Asians are thought to have gotten their whiteness from him/her.

I am so depressed I think I will go out and split a few cords of firewood, attend a friend and his wife's 50th wedding anniversary later today, they are white. Does that make us privileged? Worst of all I am watching few items on GB, this bit of info may push me over my buying limit
