"A survey of nearly 200 police departments last year by the Police Executive Research Forum, a Washington, D.C., think tank, found that the resignation rate per 100 officers was up 18% between April 2020 and March 2021 compared with the prior-year period, while the rate of retirements rose 45%".

Article also stated that many departments cannot recruit enough new people.

As that trend continues, expect a lot of new people carrying with or without training. More AD's, and more issues with the protected class. As I said before this country is rapidly going down the toilet.

Most places that have poor morale and high resignations, early retirements are "Blue" areas where DEMOCRATs dominate.
DEMOCRATs have disdain for law enforcement in general while at the same time treating criminals as victims. Further, eliminating bail, general defunding law enforcement and, and hiring of "alternatives " such as mental health people and community organizers for traditional law enforcement. DEMOCRATs are soft on crime.
In flyover country and small town USA we dont have that problem. Police are respected and enjoy their profession here.

Let's hope the ones leaving are the ones that need to leave.....and many do.

and as those folks leave, they keep lowering the standard needed to hire folks to replace them, won't be long before they hire anyone walking in off street just to fill vacancies, then we are gonna see a really crappy force that will be able to do anything they want........ or worse are told to do

You know that Deputy Sheriff? His daughter's on your daughter's soccer team? The one with the Gadsden Flag sticker on his pickup? Yea, he's not going to kick your door in at 4am cause your neighbor said you had a stockpile of assault weapons.
But that highly motivated federal police team from California? Under the guidance of the inscrutable FBI. They're not going to knock.
