Brownells Acraglass gel release agent substitute?

Need a user friendly, trustworthysubstitute release agent for when using Brownells Acraglass gel and glass bedding rifle stocks?

Need a release agent that is readily available. I see several listed on-line but several are not trustworthy for getting a release.

Normally use what comes in their gel kits but have consumed all and still have lots of the gel epoxy.

I heard of using Kiwi neutral shoe polish wax??????

Johnson's Paste Wax. Two coats is darn near infallible.

Been a long time since I did any Epoxying, but, to the best of my knowledge any good wax should work. Take care to fill any holes or pockets with the wax. Lubricating (silicone??) spray may also work, allowing it to dry first. Good luck.

Fill any holes or gaps with modelling clay, then wax.

I too have had good results with Johnsons Paste Wax.

In my bedding experiences Johnson's Paste Wax works even better than Acraglass Gel's release agent. The "skin" on that stuff when dried is a PITA to clean up.

Hornaday one shot case Lub. two coats. Works better than anything else I have tried. Also great to keep firearms from rusting in storage.

Fifty years ago I too used the Acra-glas release agent.......messy stuff, and too thick.
For the last 40 years, like others, I have used Johnson's paste wax.
Apply the wax....let dry. THEN......and this is the mentally tough part.......buff the dried wax off. Repeat the wax & buff again.
Yes.....I know.....it takes a bit of nerve to "trust" that this type of wax job will work. But it does.
As others have said.....be ABSOLUTELY SURE to plug ALL exposed holes/crevasses with modeling clay. I also use Birchwood Casey's Liquid Stock Wax, on a q-tip, for all screws and screw holes......and exposed wood.
And TAPE/MASK OFF EVERYTHING!!!
One other thing. If your bedding is very thick, seriously consider roughening the first bedding and repeating the entire process...........as original Acra-Glas has about 3%(IIRC) shrinkage as it cures.
