If you were going to buy a full sized 9MM which 9 would you choose??

A full sized 9MM to be used for defense, plinking and any other use I might dream up for this 9. To be used with the open sights that come with the pistol. No aftermarket parts, trigger jobs, etc., to be used as it comes out of the box. Emphasis to be placed on reliability, accuracy, durability and the ability to not only go "bang" every time I pull the trigger but eject and feed after every "bang".

I guess I'm looking for a piece I can completely trust. OMG!! I think I just described a HiPoint!! 🤣😁😋

Come on guys, I'm joking!!

I have several prospects in mind but I'm curious as to the GB members thoughts. You might point me in a direction I haven't considered. The problem in my search, as I see it, is there are so many really great choices out there!!

I'm with savage 170 on the ruger p series from p85-p95.

I believe it was Mr. Nunn, years ago who said he used a p85 for training new shooters. Never cleaned it, just tortured it for thousands of rounds, and it worked every time. I think he might have also said it was ugly and looked like a brick, but you didn't emphasize good looks.

Yep, same here. I got a Ruger P-85 for Christmas in 1989, or 1990. It steadfastly meets all the criteria of the OP.

Yep and all variants of the 92. There is none better in a combat situation period. No pistol can clear a FTFs or jam faster.

I am far from an expert. Having shot competitively for a lot of years, having run two indoor ranges, having actually lived on an outdoor range when I was in my early 20's, I have owned and shot a lot of handguns. I have owned and shot some of the best pistols built by some of the best custom smiths in the country. If asked the best shooting 9 mm pistol, and maybe the best shooting pistol of any caliber; I would have to name the S&W 952. I have owned at least two that I can remember, and they will ruin a shooter for any other pistol. Finesse, if limited to one word is the way I would describe that gun.

39-2 - one of the first autos deemed reliable enough such that law enforcement adopted them as service weapons - at least CPD up here in Chicago.

These things do shoot damn straight. By today's standards, a little beefy for CC though.

Beretta PX4 Storm. Smaller than most "full size" 9mms. Comfortable to carry concealed. 15 round mags. Accurate. Low recoil.

CZ-75. Bought it in 1982 in Germany at Rod and Gun for $ 200.00. many1.000's or rds thru it.
Only problem as I get older it feels heavier, and gets harder to carry. Might be the way I carry it on my side.
So, I'm on a search for a full size Lighter weight ,9mm too.
Glock or Sig. ?? Time will tell.
