Agree it is not barb wire ! Hang a few strands of high tensile with new Zealand charger and the horse will not try that again

I recently saw a video of a angus cow doing that.
I have snaps and chains on my gates to keep the mules from opening them. They don’t mess with hot wire when in pastures where I utilize it though.

That ain't no barbed wire.
I've seen mules carefully smell when a fence charger wire was hot. They could detect it through their whiskers.
I walked into a electric fence wire while wading fishing a creek once. britches were wet, was in thick brush going from one hole of water to the next, wire was about half way between my knees and my gonads. I detected it kinda fast with my whiskers. Only thing nice was I could not tell if I added any more dampness to the britches.

Seen several horses through the years that would slow nose up to a wire to check if it was hot.

Yeah, I've heard about that. A few wraps of wire around the handle will cure that, too.

We had an old horse in a pasture with a single hot wire around it. In one corner the electric fence would snap across the insulater. Sometimes we would shut the charger off because it caused the house radio to click. That horse would stand in the corner and when it quit snapping out he would go.
Another time we had a shed full of ear corn. The windows were just what they called isenglass, a plastic with mesh imbedded in it. The same horse broke in one of the windows and ate about a bushel of corm. We had to have the vet out to treat the horse. My Dad covered that window with hail screen on insulaters and hooked it to the fence charger. He then took the largest ear of corn he could find, wrapped it with copper wire and hung it on that hail screen. The horse immediately wrapped his mouth around that ear of corn. I never heard a sound like that come out of a horse. He reared back, farted and sat on his rear. He spent most of the day creeping up on that ear of corn then backing away.

we had an Angus bull who would nose up to the weed chopper wire. only problem the copper ring in his nose sometimes hit before his whiskers. it wasn't a pretty sight seeing his bowels violently evacuating, his bladder emptying, and his vocal cords reaching a painful crescendo

I undersstand horses about as much a womans.... WTF? How? Why? An hour ago you were fine!
Had a loader and a fall protection strap under her lower neck.... She spun 90 degrees as I lifted and climbed out... Then it was like "hey, you got any oats?"
