  I think it actually tastes more like pheasant. As awkward and slow as they are it is a good thing predators go after the tail first giving the bird the time to get away. Bob

  Back when I raised pheasants (I had over a dozen different species) I would get a call from someone asking if I would come get these pests. They would complain that the peacocks were pooping all over their patio, sidewalks, etc. I would go at night with a gunny sack and a ladder and get them off the roofs, or out of the trees. It's fun wrestling with a bird that size on a steep 'WET" roof at midnight.

  I grew up living across the road from a rural privately owned bird sanctuary. The retired wealthy owner kept all sorts of exotic species from all over the world. Peacocks would run loose all over his 12 acre compound and I would wake up to the sounds of their enchanting vocals each morning. A sound that I have actually grown to miss.

  
  

  One of his male peacocks became a favored friendly pet over the years to both Mr. Fulton (the owner) and my family. Known as "Mr. Blue", he would follow us around and for a handful of shelled raw peanuts he'd present his tail plumage just like the NBC Peacock!

  
  

  My mom always had a large vase in our house packed full of beautiful feathers from those fancy birds! It was fun collecting them during the Spring molting season.
