An expiration date is the day when something expires.

I thought I was being clear but perhaps not. My auction #920263951 has an ending date of 01-05-22 but has an expiration date of 3/29/22. Why the difference?

Jeff, the listing expiration means that if you set up the listing to run until the item is sold (auto relist), after 3/29/22, you'll reach the expiration date and have to submit an entirely new listing (from scratch).

Back when Captain Fun was around there were numerous complaints about listings with huge opening bids which ran for months on end, and in some cases for over a year without any changes. The sellers were fishing for just one person to "bite", and make a big score. This resulted in a time limit for listings.

Naturally it didn't take long for one such seller to come into the forum a gripe about it. He sold some sort of specialty ammunition which was extremely expensive. He claimed that one one buyer was all that he needed, and he didn't appreciate the change. Captain Fun didn't appreciate the comment, and swung the ban hammer.

I understand that Mark but I didn't check for the auto relist option (as in my other auctions I didn't). For instance my auction #919688291 didn't sell but looking at it now I see it ended on 12/29/21 and the expiration date is 3/15/22. I'll be quiet now before I get in trouble but I'm not complaining but just asking for information.

I don't see it in any way as a complaint Jeff, and don't see how it would have been taken any other way. Just an honest question, that got an honest answer...GLWS.

Thanks toad67. At my age just one hammer blow could kill me. 😉

Jeff, if you receive so much as a "love tap" from anyone on staff, let me know about it.
