  I have a few of the "bicycle works", I also have one of the solid rib 12's that is marked "western field" which doesn't show up in the bluebook. My 34th edition doesn't show any western field manufactured by Iver Johnson.

  I have one of their 12 gauge singles from the WWII era. It was used as a guards gun at Camp Abbot in central Oregon during WWII. My grandmother worked there as a cook and at the end of the war the general in charge handed her the now surplus shotgun and told her to give it to my granddad when he got back from the South Pacific with the SeaBees.

  I've owned a couple but never thought about collecting them. But I don't collect multiple samples of many things anyway.

  Guns were sold by Montgomery Ward under the trade name Western Field. I wonder if that's what you have or if it is something different?

  I had found that model in my book and due to IJ's distinct receiver shape, assumed that was it. If it was low production, I can understand Fjestad's just overlooking it in the cross brand section.

  no not really but sadly I remember old single shot 12ga guns sold for 15 to 20.00 was common price

  like most hind sight is best

  I have a ithica 410 singe shot my dad gave eight dollars for when I was about ten yrs old ( or around 1967 or so )
