Russia supplied 7% of our petroleum in 2020, so they aren't really a significant source. Starting in 2020, the US became a net exporter; that would have continued were it not for Biden's commitment to put the US petroleum out of business.

It's funny this is the 3rd or 4th post I've read today (1st one here, the others were on stock message boards) that each quote how much oil we are getting from russia, and each post had a different percentage... anyways we were oil independant a little over a year or so ago... Let's Go Brandon!

depends on how statistics are compiled and sentence structure is understood. if the Saudis supplied 80% and the UAE 13% then Russia at 7% would be our third largest supplier. and really that is not what is important. what is important is why we buy any oil from Russia.

Our oil buys from Russia are not the issue. The important thing is that nearly all the western Europe countries are totally dependent on Russian oil and gas. It has been getting worse since the greeies have been forcing shutdown of nuclear electric plants that used to supply up to 80%. Neither the US nor the EU will impose any sanctions on Russia that will impede the flow of energy to the west. And all the other sanctions are of little importance. Putin has the US and EU exactly how he wants them, hand in hand with weak leadership there also.
