And, I bet that they would taste better than the ones at the farm that are and have been eating hedge apples.

Pot pie comes to mind. Got one of those new fangled slingshots?

Hot peppers in the bird feed.

    Birds don't have taste buds.

    Squirrels do.

I try to keep them thinned out around here. They tear up the wife's flower pots, scattering out the soil, and chew on her plants. When I get enough for a good sized meal in the freezer, we feast on tree rats!

"Shooting them isn't a good option. Any thoughts??"

You can put out some traps and relocate them if you don't want to shoot them. I relocated a couple of dozen of the tree rats for my wife June. Tractor Supply and Northern Tool sells a set of 2 for around $35 to $40 bucks.

Diver rig is right. Birds do not taste capsicum- only mammals. Mix red pepper flakes in with the birdseed.

The Sectpod rat repeller will run off the squirrels.

Spray the area for ticks. It keeps the squirlz away for a season too.

You say the birds can't taste the hot in hot pepper seeds but can they feel them on the way out??
