specialty shotgun ammunition availability
I am a beginning competitive trap shooter and an increasingly serious upland fowl (pheasant, partridge) hunter. I am interested in locating quality shotgun hunting ammo, all #6, including Kent Fastlead, Kent Faststeel, Kent Bismuth, and Fiocchi Golden Pheasant. As none of this has been available, I WAS ABLE to get six boxes of Winchester SuperX Heavy Game Loads at gunbroker.com. So that stands me in good stead for about two seasons. But the question is, where do I get the rest of these brands? Any help?

I believe the OP stated he was looking for hunting rds. not Trap loads. If he is shooting upland game, then he must be in an area that requires steel, otherwise there is no point in looking for the Kent faststeel as they are nowhere near as effective as lead. As for the bismuth loads, unless he wants to shoot an older not rated for steel shotgun in a no lead area there is no need for the extra expense. The Fiocchi pheasant loads are great but to me not worth the expense because I have done just as good with standard hunting loads like the one I linked too. Bob

In my neck of the woods, if you don't have a pocket full of 6's for fun shoots, you might as well sit on the bench. As for shooting 100 rounds of 6's, the shot goes by weight, so your shoulder doesn't know the difference between 1 1/8 oz of 2's, 6''s or 9's.

Are you saying 1 1/4 oz #6 pheasant loads have less recoil than trap/skeet loads. ATA max load is 1.125. oz.

We occasionally have long shot competitions on our sporting clays field, maximum loads 3 dram 7.5s. It is amazing how far out that one magic pellet can break a target! Here is a video of George Digweed shooting long distance;
