Grueling Race ready to kick off. (Finish update)
2,645 miles this year with route change, it’s going to be a rough one on riders and machines.
I will be following a young man and his son that I know, who are on two separate teams.
Shane Barber, Team #39, SO#2 and his son Cody Barber, Team #9, SO#18.
Ride like the wind fellas.
You fellas know, I’m a horse/mule, rodeo nut. This is pretty much the only mechanized race I follow, simply because I personally know some of the competitors.

Prayers for safe racing for all.

Not that’s a real race

Shane and partner finished up 3rd, his boy Cody scratched early out of McGrath I believe it was.
2,475 miles in 59 hours riding time, I bet his back will be sore for awhile.

That just sounds brutal! I'll wager that more than his back will be sore.

Quite a feat, congrats!

truly a test only a few could consider and fewer could or will complete prayers for a safe challenge for all of them
I could only guess the dog sled race would be worse but do not know enough to really say that both would be well beyond me

Congratulations! That was a heck of a race. Now come the dogs, the trail is all prepped for them.
Years ago there was a bush pilot named Don Bowers who ran the race and took notes and pictures. He put them together into a great online resource. He was killed a few years back and I downloaded and saved all his work so it wouldn't disappear when nobody kept up his internet bills. You can read them here... thanks Don!

Does this mean there are a bunch of stranded snowmobiler's for the dogs to snack on? 🍖
