The point is that governments now can use this threat to quell discontent among it's loyal citizens. If you are too vocal you get the punishment of losing access to your funds until proven innocence of all charges.
When they go cashless you really will be caged digitally. They may even lock you out on any function of using any government programs including your Social Security,passport, etc... as persuasion to stop any protest.they deem unlawful.

Seems that if you just open up a new account and only put in it enough to fund whatever cause you are supporting, you'd be safe from the gov't overreach.???

You don't open any accouts without proper I,D. now, it gets scanned by a reader and with face recognition,just look at The IRS for pointers. They are showing you how it works and the noose just gets tighter for both political parties are in on it.
