disposable income and yachts
just watching History channel, Modern Marvels. they had a piece on a company that has ships designed to move yachts from one place to another all over the world. this thing would partially sink itself then a load master would load these yachts on the ships to get the maximum amount on board. then divers would go down and place temporary supports under the yachts. next they would pump the water out and install more stable supports. and all this time i thought if you had a yacht you just drove it place to place. i cant imagine how much this would cost and how someone can have enough money to just move your boat from place to place.

They gave us a quick tour. $35,000,000 for that particular ship. Crew chief said that owners typically count on spending at least 10% of the purchase price on maintenance and operating costs YEARLY. As much as I'm in awe of these yachts..............just imagine.....the materials, hardware, suppliers, constructors..............i.e.....the PEOPLE....that it takes to create each one of these monstrosities.......has EMPLOYED!!
On the other hand....there are.................politicians......sigh. :(

I saw part of that Modern Marvels segment. I'd bet that the cost of having your yacht moved to another port this way would have to be cheaper than sailing it there on its own, counting crew, fuel, and other costs. Or else they'd just move it themselves.
There was also a segment about a service that converted a Boeing 727 to fly race horses around the country. You have to admire the guy who came up with that business idea.

My idea of a cruise ship goes back to the Pacific Princess from the Love Boat era. The ships nowadays look more like over stacked floating cattle carriers.

Only cruise I ever truly enjoyed was through Windstar on the Windsurf. Have always loved to sail, and there is nothing, IMO, that compares to a clear night under sail, with no sound but the wind and water rushing past the hull.

Well, through unnamed sources he is now chief cook and bottle washer at L.G. Brandon's in Butte, MT.
And you see the real rich people who have those kind of yachts moving them is a no issue when it comes to money. Talking billionaires and there is plenty in the world that keep low profiles.

Personally I like seeing filthy rich, the moderately rich people, even the average working Joe's spending their money on boats, planes, homes, ranches etc. etc. stop and think about it, a lot of good comes from that money. I'm a free enterprise lover from birth. God bless'em

Check cook, cashier and bottle washer is an old phrase people used to use to mean a one man operation. It doesn't only apply to cooking. I hear it around here but I'd imagine not everywhere.

My company is having a 2.7million car ferry built at a Wisconsin ship yard. It is being built next to a multi million dollar yacht. They won't say how much or who the owner is but it is a beautiful boat.

I gotta say. I thought he was eccentric but not dishonest. Some of what he shared was VERY specific if he was being misleading, like the intricacies of putting a role cage in a Ferrari.
I never met him, but I would still be glad to, even if that’s an unpopular opinion. I thought he was a good dude. But don’t recall what ended his tenure here.

Hold on- a boat that holds 2.7 million cars? Or a boat, that happens to hold cars and cost 2.7 million dollars?
