I second the motion. I stopped giving at 26 gallons, but I think I did my share. You save from one to three lives with each donation, I'm told.

    Sorry for your Loss.

I gave Blood up until the time, almost to my 5 gallon point. The Mad cow scare came around. I served in the Army in Europe, and because of being posted there, I can no longer give blood. Wish I could, but no exemption, wife and son included.

Sad to hear of your loss. Prayers said for you and the others that love her.

I will be back to donating soon. It's been a while. Not many opportunities to do so since the world went into the unmitigated panic mode. I wholly appreciate the reminder, so thank you.

Hoosier, you may want to check again. They made some changes to Madcow eligible doners recently.

They're desperate. They've even changed the rules for "happy" sex.

I was banned from selling plasma, and donating blood, for things the US government did to me.

I've heard they've lifted the restrictions, but don't care. Wouldn't piss on the Red Cross if they were on fire.

Glad they helped your loved ones.

RIP Sunshine. So sorry for your loss and deepest admiration for posting this for the benefit of others. My Mom donated for her entire life and 2 of my daughters give regularly. Ashamed to say I never have. Guess it's not too late to start. There's not much an old fart like me can do to possibly save the life of someone I'll never know. Or, for that matter, someone I do know.

I've donated quite a bit of blood(not nearly 26 gallons but a significant amount) but quit when I had LYME disease and didn't go back. Right now, I'm so disgusted with the 'health care industry' that I have no desire to donate again.

All the numbers juggling, padding the figures, and outright lies relating to the viral catastrophe is just too much.

    Condolences for your loss.

My son gives regularly. He tells me that they will not take it from anyone that takes aspirin. Since I do that everyday, I can not donate. At least where he goes.

    Besides I have trypanophobia.

They ask if you have taken aspirin but it does not exclude you. Most blood is broken down for use so it does not really matter. I give every 60 days.
