  DEMOCRAT will TAX anything they can get away with. Combine that with their institutional contempt towards the Second Amendment and private ownership of firearms, I am not surprised.

  
  

  They want this tax as a means to increase ATFs budget in order to regulate & micromanage lawful firearms owners.

  $1 sounds absolutely trivial. That's the idea. Once this laws goes into effect, the $1 will soon become $10, then $25...and on and on and on.

  I believe the total fees in California are now $37.
