Don't worry, someone will find you. Eventually.

I hear that cadaver dogs have really good noses for such times!

You might want to keep a bunch of empty boxes in there so you have someplace to put the dirt. I think some tools would be a great idea.

Don't listen to these honyoks. Buncha ghouls. 🤣

Think of what can fall on you from a collapsed house. Lots of 2x4s and other junk like couches and plumbing. What do you need to move it enough to make an escape path? What would a fireman use?

Get an axe, a couple pry bars, a Sven Saw, flashlight and extra batteries, and a few gallons of water. Put in a couple cheap sleeping bags and a couple tarps, and maybe a little transistor radio. You're set for everything up to the Zombie Apocalypse.

About the only difference between a cellar and a tornado shelter is the strength of the door. Maybe today's idea of a 'cellar' is in reference to a storm shelter. Us 'old timers' used the term cellar to mean an underground structure primarily intended for food storage.

If you're really concerned about being trapped, I'd suggest adding a small hydraulic jack and some short pieces of blocking to your tool list.

Not sure I see the problem. But, I think of a "storm cellar" as having Bilco doors mounted on a concrete wall/steps. Rescue teams will expect any survivors to be under the doors.

I occasionally see a '60's era nuclear shelter in a basement.
