HVAC Question Specifically the furnace
#4 is living in my house in Pine Bluff. Just got a message that the heat is out. There is a yellow light flashing on the furnace. He said it is indicating reverse polarity. It's a new system that was installed in the winter of 2020/2021 and has been working fine until now.
Anyone have words of wisdom?

First have them cycle power to it. Both 110 or 220 and 24v. That should reset the circuit board . Get a model # if you can.

Will have him try tomorrow. Had kerosene heaters in garage storage room along with two 5 gallon cans of fuel. He's using that tonight.

Go to the reboot dept. In other words, shut off the breaker for the whole system for a minute or so & switch it back on to see if it resets.

OK. He should be able to get it reset for sure by turning the main breaker off, That will kill everything. I put a new Lenox in a few years back in our old house and it had multiple components on the circuit board with cold solder joints. Must have been wave soldered.

Whereas, you wave the solder gun at ir and call it done.

It is really quite fascinating, involves a tank of molten solder and an ity bity tsunami. We could solder every component on a large board at one time, 30-40 boards at a time.

I am sure ther is more HVAC people on here that can help and will chime in
the power down is always a good start
and one long shot ( dont ask how I found out ) but make sure the batteries in the thermostat if it has them are good or it may not be getting the signal to work
I am just a do it all hack and fumble my way thru such things but no way to guess over the internet

Plus one on the batteries for the thermostat, my system does nothing when they go down and if there is any indicator in it it's too small for my eyes to see, I keep spares and it's now the first thing I check when HVAC stops.

New battery and breaker off/on (off for a full minute) didn't reset it. Tech is supposed to be there today if he can get his truck thawed out.
They got sleet and snow there yesterday. #4 said the kerosene heater is keeping the open area at about 70°. Said the bedrooms are comfortable even though he is keeping the doors closed. House is insulated very well.
Had a brain cramp and didn't occur to me until the middle of the night that the fireplace is a wood/gas fireplace. Lol.

That's what happened on my DeLorean. It was a Flux Capacitor.
Is THAT how we got stuck with you?! LOL

Control board if I was guessing. Make sure other folks that have used the same type unit are not having same issues.
May have had a run of bad boards, had 3 units in same house go bad at same time.
HVAC man side no charge since many from factory were failing.

Susie, keep in mind that kerosene heater produces carbon monoxide.

My geothermal furnace had issues 2 years ago. It would try to start, but then wouldn't run. There were 2 capacitors a start and a run. I had to replace the run capacitor. It works fine now. They are usually mounted next to the fan motor, at least mine was.
Hope they get it fixed soon.

#4 had a buddy come look at it. Tech wasn't able to get there due to ice issues. Bad wire was the issue. Fixed and up and running. Easy peasy.
