REMINGTON MDL 742 AUTO RIFLE

This rifle continues to loose gas pressure and crack the forend wood. Any ideas? Thx

  is the gas regulator ball and screw in place? and tight

  If you go down a ways, there is a section on the gas system.

  Common problem with gas reg as Mike mentioned. Also the cheap plastic dust cover wears, breaks and will cause a jam, best toss it,
