Dang Deer no not Jim...
I got my little raised bed garden ready last week and planted some seeds and bought 2 tomato plants and 2 bell peppers in 4 inch pots put them in the dirt on the 15th and on the 17th one of the tomatoes was gone and the other half the plant was ate to the stems. today the rest of it is gone and the 2 pepper plants also, nothing left but deer prints and some of the seeds are staring to sprout. What if any ways do you folks use to deter the deer?

Electric fence or some of the commercial deer repellents.

I gave up using repellents and put up a temporary fence around our small 500 sq ft garden. Just metal fence posts and a roll of 4' metal fencing. They have reached over to nibble the pole beans a bit but for the most part the fence works. It only takes about 20 min to put up in the spring and about the same to take it down in the fall. Bob

Might I suggest a .243 pill?
I use a hotwire, cattle panel, and luck.

@diver-rig not in season... so no on the 243 also they are doing it at night and I need my beauty sleep, but the hot wire is an option.😁

Been using 5' field fence. Works great if you remember to close the gate.

I remember my dad's battles with the deer and the watermelon patch I can say that the human hair around the perimeter did not work along with tying the dog close by they soon got use to one another.

Simplest thing first. Try a strand of yellow plastic CAUTION tape. For some reason, the deer wouldn't cross it when I had my big garden below the house.

20lb fishing line. 2 strands, one low and one about nose height. Do NOT mark it with flags. Deer will walk into it with their nose, can't see anything, and it freaks them out. They run off. I had one run through it and had to replace the line, cheap deterrent. I works, no deer in my garden for 3 years now! Doesn't stop rabbits however🥺.

Years ago I bought 8' fence posts and 6' fencing to put around our rather large garden. It kept everything out except for the moles. I put a 6' gate on the end so I can get my tractor in to till the soil. As soon as the ground dries up a bunch, I'll get in there with the tractor and get it ready to plant, after May 15th.
We have all kinds of critters that want some of our garden goodies, but the fence keeps almost all of them out.

I've noticed that deer don't like to get around TWO fences within few feet of each other.
Seen this when a guy left his old barb fence in the woods and installed a new fence within about 3 ft of the old fence. Deer would have a good trail for a long ways through the woods trying to find where only one fence was standing to cross.
Seems they do not want to get trapped between the fences or try to jump both.
Wonder if a wire or even the nylon fishing line the guy mentioned installed few feet high out from a regular garden fence might play with a deers brain.
