What is considered fast
internet speed?
Mine is 115 download
and 10.2 upload.

That’s pretty good! I am with Starlink now and that’s about what I am getting. Hughesnet was about ¼ of that. We can now watch Netflix movies without buffering every 2 minutes.

I am sure about fast all we have is the snail lane and watching movies sucks as time out and freezing is common place but where we live its the only game in town for now 😣

We have Hughesnet. Ping 778 down 19.36 up 0.00. Pretty impressive, huh.

I usually run about 40/6 with an 11 ping. I'm still on coax cable with Comcast. It's fast enough for most things.

all I can tell you is that our fiber optic(we have now) is so much better than dial-up and DSL(that we used to have)

My server, Summit Broadband, has various service tiers. I have the basic (the cheapest) and I should be getting 300Mpbs down and 500Mpbs up. As you can see, the numbers are close enough (90%) that I don't gripe.
My neighbor gets over 900 download, but he's paying for a premium service I don't need.

I have line of sight radio antennae on the roof and get 12 down and 3-4 up, not fast by any means but I do ok with it, looking into starlink since they are offering much better at a lower price...

I consider anything better than dial-up as fast. I remember the old days of the gunbroker forums when I would listen to that modem singing and hope it would “hook” so I could see what y’all were chatting about. 😁

I also remember that. I would cross my fingers that no one would post a photo, otherwise it might not load before bedtime.

I was paying over $500 per month for a T1 line because there were NO internet options here. Download was still horrible, but upload was amazing. I was thankful when they finally turned on the Uverse equipment here. They had it on the poles for a couple years without ever making any further effort to make it an option. I think the major issue everyone is dealing with is the monopoly the various companies have on services. They've gotten together and decided to divvy up customers so there is no real competition to get your business....what you get is what you get.

Good gosh LF that is horrible. I understand it's not by your choice, and that makes it worse, no choice.
My service is on coax cable through spectrum. We have phone,TV,internet for just at 200 a month.

We have Suddenlink Cable (TV and Internet).
For our Internet plan I just have a basic service and measure 109Mbps Download, 11Mbps Upload, and 8ms Ping.
We could pay a lot more for faster service, but browsing is quick, and I have absolutely no lag when streaming movies or music; so, I'm fine with the minimal plan I have. I certainly don't need to pay for, nor would I really use, a gigabit plan because I'm not a gamer.

I’m on a radio connection down to the city and I’m steady at 9MBs or 900Kbs, symmetrical upload. It’s plenty to allow my wife to stream anything while I watch hockey.

Verizon Jetpack gives us 42 down & 15 up. Of course, we can go from 4 bars to 2 bars in a heart beat. I'll have to check it after midnight when it seems faster.

I live in the world of networking and data and I can’t imagine a need anywhere for more than maybe 50MBs through put. And that’s with servers on the east coast and clients on the west.

I am 1000mps AT&T fiber optic.
Well that’s what I pay for anyway.
Its probably close to that, we can regularly have 7-8 devices pulling and the internet is still blazing fast.

all i know is that i wouldn't describe my internet service as Fast. more like HALF FAST would be a more accurate claim.
