Than to buy a Taurus pistol.Bought it yesterday because it looked like a good deal.Shot a few mags though it this morning and FTF due to light primer strikes and a big POOF,ruptured case with factory ammo.Its on the way back for factory service in less than 20 hours of ownership.I owned a few Taurus and had problems with every one except for a 38 snubby.The pistol got great reviews so I thought the quality had improved but it appears I was wrong again.

The last 2 Taurus revolvers we sold at the shop came back with complaints. On checking, I found that both had burrs (which I was able to take out.) One inside the center of the cylinder and the other inside the trigger mechanism.

Never understood why some buy Taurus: Cheap & unreliable when you can by HiPoint or Heritage: Both are cheap and reliable.

And yet you still did it !!!! I did the same once when I bought a Taurus PT99 in 1986..I looked at other Semi-autos from different makers and talked myself into buying the Taurus as it was cheaper.....what a turd, sent back to the factory twice. Then sold it to a guy that intended to rebarrel it....
Live and learn....we all have had one of those movements. Well almost all of us.

I've owned a Taurus model 85 Ultra-Lite .38 snubby in the past and never had any problems with it. I guess they let a good one slip through ever now and then.

Friend yesterday unboxed a performance center Smith & Wesson M&P 40. Every shot sent hot fragments out the barrel ports to land on him. It could happen with any gun.

Back when I was at the gun counter I noticed Taurus did have fairly fast turnaround on repairs. Of course that just may be an indication that they had a lot of practice. Bob

Got a couple in the stables with no issues. One by puter, and it works!

The last Taurus auto I bought was about 30 years ago and it was a real POS. After 30 years I would have thought they would have improved but this last one was worse than the first one.

Dang. Sorry this happened. Yes taurus is at the bottom of the list for me. But I have also had a Remington 700XCR that the bolt handle fell off while wife chambered the 3rd round into her brand new rifle. Now that was a huge disappointment.

I've had good experiences with Taurus semi autos! One bad exp with revolver(firing pin malfunction, had to send back for repairs). Taurus did fix the gun, but it costs $50 to ship to them.
I wouldn't get their revolver, but my semis have been flawless!

I stake my life on a Taurus G2C--always works first time, every time, any time. What model did you have problems with?

I have the same experience with the G2. First and favorite is my millennial pro 40(PRE G2), no failures..EVER.

I have bought two of the 85's myself. a new one for me and a nice trade in for my son. I have had zero problems from mine and after I purchased the used one for him I found it had a broken firing pin. Sent it off and it was back in two weeks and no charge.

I know 2 people with TaurusĀ pistols that don't and never had ant problems with them, but that has never been my experience. One of my friends owns a 38 revolver and the other a Beretta 92 knock-off.
The only TaurusĀ I've bought (circa 1978) was also 38 revolver, timing wasn't quite right and it shaved lead slivers between the cylinder & barrel. I sent it in and asked friends that were more knowledgeable than I about them and was told about their spotty QC, & reliability etc. ... sold it when it came back without even shooting it and have never bought another Taurus of any kind.
While I agree that anything mechanical can have problems, but why buy anything with a reputation for spotty QC, & reliability?

The one I had this last problem with was a G3C.Nearly all the reviews were excellent,people stated they had thousands of rounds through the guns with no problem.

I like Taurus. Good company, and I never hesitate to buy a broken or problematic Taurus.
I bought two that were in a lot of police auction guns, a M85 and a PT22. Both needed work, and I sent them to Taurus. I got the 85 back, repaired to factory specs, in about 3 weeks. The PT22 took a little longer, about 3 months, but they determined they were unable to repair it, so they sent me a new one.

Every once in a while, I tend to do things that I swore never to do again.
I'm reminded, and it's out of my system for a while.

I had one of the PT111, or PT 101 ? I think it was, the 40cal version of the berretta knockoff. went bang everytime, fed all the factory ammo I tried and all the reloads I made for it, only reason I got rid of it was it was so heavy, only time I could conceal carry was in shoulder holster in winter time, sold it and bought a 357 revolver, though I miss the 15 round capacity it just wasn't practical to carry all the time..........
