speaking about driving
many years ago my wife took over driving she said I scared her too much so It took me a long time to adjust but got use to it I just read or sleep or do what ever some times I help watch for turn offs LOL I told the people at work one day and they though I had made it up but after getting together a few times with all of them they noticed I was telling the truth LOL
any way one story on her we were on vacation in Charleston SC looking for a parking place ( we have been several times and enjoyed going ) any way it was a busy summer and packed every empty lot was set up as parking for like 5.00 for the day ( you know that was some time ago ) any way as we pulled in the fellow overseeing the lot , may have been his place . just a good old country boy
he was telling my wife ( who was driving ) pull in over here and get close to the parked car . he did not like my wifes idea of getting close as she was taking up too much space so he stuck his hand in the window gapped the steering wheel and cut it deep to force the car in closer to the other parked car . and said at the same time to me you know buddy , women just can not drive 😮
I was a bit taken back but too busy LMAO 😂to say any thing to him , my wife was in a state of disbelief with a look on her face😯 I wish I had a photo of .. but I remind my wife all the time who is the best driver ? I have never had any one grab my steering wheel out of hand and say I cant drive while just parking
as I said she has to be one of the safest drivers I have rode with . but she did total out a S10 blazer we had but thats another story 😲

Had that been my second ex-wife that good ole boy would have broke fingers and his jewels repositioned.

My wife would have gave that man something to remember for life! She is a good ole country girl and that would have been a grave mistake. She is tiny, but doesn't put up with BS like that either. I would have sat back and watched😁😎

We visited Daughter 2 weeks ago and since we took Grouch Attack's car, she drove. OMG OMG She's lost her mind as far as driving is concerned. Several times I asked if she was going to stop at a red light or STOP sign because she'd run right up to the line and then mash the brake pedal.
I learned to drive on vehicles in which you needed to make sure you actually had brakes before you tried to stop. I watched her run 3-4 STOP signs and roll through a couple of red lights just hoping Barny Phife didn't see it.

I believe our trucks were manufactured by Somanex. My wife can be asleep by mile 5! (Whether she is driving or not)😉

First, had the scenario you described happened to my family, I would have tried my best to squeeze my whole body into the crack of the seat, and the kids would likely have gone out the windows head first. When it comes to my wife, if some chuckle-head "pulls her pin", you'd better find cover.
Second........my wife is a great driver, based on her history. However, she makes me so very nervous. She likes to hug the shoulder super tightly, so (in our giant 3500 van) if you are in the passenger seat, it looks like you are off the road in the ditch. Terrifying!

I fully relate to that shoulder hugger thing. There are some back roads here in Idaho that you could crack nuts with your butt cheeks on

My only issue with my wife driving if we have to turn like into our drive or no red-light stop sign area
If ther happens to be a Semi behind us two things may happen one we will go on past the turn to possibly the next major intersection with stop signs or. Lights
Or my favorite ..we are turning with almost no speed scrubbed off so hang on its thrill show driving time lol
I get she does not trust getting ran over by a Semi driver not paying attention
And i gave up saying anything about our high speed turns
And I get why she had a fear of my driving I use to drive the interstate daily to and from work for years. I got use to being up close and personal with traffic so it became like a game to me and I had to be leader of the pack all the time
By the way the highway patrol hates to be passed and they do hold grudges lol
Will add in early on several buddies and I use to play bumper tag on the interstate but that way before I met my wife also a lot of fun stories of picking up every hitch hiker we came up on

My wife has the ability to drive from the right front seat. NO, she doesn't work for the post office & it's not an English car. And yes, I thank her for her comments as she has saved me from a few oopses.

A not so bad one, our shortcut into town. Still a fantastic view from the passenger seat coming home.

Any of you ever drive the upper part of Phantom Canyon Road from Victor to Can'on City, CO? It's mostly single lane and way up there with very occasional pull outs. If you meet someone one of you has to back up to the last pull out. Did it once in a Chevy conversion van.

Oh lord, that would have gotten ugly really fast had he reached in the car while June driving. When I got this look it was not a good time to be taking her photo like in this old picture but I got away with it this time. Raised on a farm in the boonies in East Tennessee she was county strong.

Smitty at the time my wife was still some what easy going and we were bout a lot younger it had to be 30 + years ago
now if some one did that it would be OH no 😲you just pulled the bears tail

Did that once with Grouch Attack and 3 kids in a Suburban. Between the screeching and the puking, it wasn't a 'fun drive' for any of us.

My bride was a good driver. One accomplishment I was very proud of- taught her to drive a stick, speed shift- and we were still on speaking terms.
We were going to a public event, she had just pulled into the parking area, attendant reached into the car, intending to put the ticket stub on the dash. Bad move.
She got him with the door. Twice.

I taught my daughter to drive a stick and her senior year of high school she saved up for a K Series Chevy stepside pickup with 4wd, V8 and a stick. She was the only kid in her school could drive a stick. For Christmas that year I gave her tow chains and she’d stop to pull her classmates out of the ditch, mostly the boys in their rice grinders.

I taught more than a few girls how to drive a manual shift car / truck . even my wife to be she was the last female I taught . I don't think my wife would have approved of me teaching any one ( female ) after we married LOL , all of them had fun and really bragged to they friends ( about driving a manual shift , I would guess not so much 🤨 about me ) some years later my sons got old enough of course I taught them I was always amazed none of them cost me a clutch
