Now THAT is what a rifle is supposed to look like! Very nice.

That's a nic'n fer sure. Few things more elegant than quarter sawn walnut.

    AND

now it's time to add some scratches and bruises. (it will get some marks and you will not even know how they surfaced)

My synthetic ugly plastic stocked guns can fall on the ground and not a mark, but I've noticed if I even gently lay down one of my nice wood stocked guns very gently where it appears to be safe it WILL GET DINGED OR SCRATCHED. Sometimes I see a mark on the wood and do not even know how it happened.

    Very nice gun.

Life is too short to hunt with a ugly gun.

I figured you for being a man with discerning tastes and I guess you just proved it. That's the way a gentlemans rifle should look. Bob

Beautiful wood! About getting nics and scrapes from treks out in the woods.....

Those marks define a guns history like a map. 100 years from now your great grandson will look upon them as a true wonder! He will have that allusive answer to the age old saying; "I sure wish that gun could talk!"

    It talks plenty!

I refinished this rifle that I built a few years ago. It was originally stained pretty dark and I thought the nice wood was a bit too hidden. I like it better now.

In his gun stock that is. Just mounted a new Leupold on my newest Cooper model 21 in 222 Remington. Probably the nicest rifle in my collection.

I have a Rem. 541 -T (.22) with a Curley maple stock. Just beautiful. I had it accurized and bolt work done on it. Topped off with a Leupold 6.5 X 20 target X 40 Vari XIII. I don't know if I like the way it looks better than it shoots or what?! Had a guy offer me more than I paid for the it just for the stock😮

Would love to see an image of that one. I'm a certifiable (not that kind of certifiable) slu,,, err, aficionado of maple.

This guy told me only 250 of these "Curley maple" stocks were made! I bought this new in 1995. I wish I had the ability to post photos. Tried many times but to no avail🤔

The 541's are what got me started collecting nice 22's. Have you seen the prices the "S" versions are bringing? Wow!!

Somewhere out there is a nice 40-X in 22 magnum, so I have read.

I guess I can dream about that one. $$$$$

I can't figure out how to do pictures either, I have some 9422's that will pop out the ole eyes.

Guys I'm not sure whether it is different depending upon the device you are using to access the forums,, but on my computer when I comment, in the bottom left there is an icon just to the right of the smile face icon, I call it the "mountain and the sun" but if you click on it it will let you upload a picture from your local device. I have also been able to just drag and drop but again it may be different with different devices, I'd be happy to try and help anyone having trouble with loading pictures.
