Sig 320 Shooting Themselves ???
Two neighboring police depts. in Ma., Cambridge and Sommerville, are claiming five officers have had their duty 320's fire while in their duty holsters, not re-holstering, just walking around. At least two have leg wounds from the accidental discharges. I wonder about the holsters?? I also wonder why the guns have not been replaced. I did find where Cambridge P.D. is destroying 20% of their long gun inventory, rifles and shotguns, so as not to appear so militaristic. Interesting times.

Maybe they should go back to 38 spl revolvers too. More safe and they will look even more UN-militaristic.

the next town south of us Piqua Oh had a news report a few days ago 3 LEO injured
a firearm (pistol ) accidently went off in the cop shop after returning from a practice session and he was cleaning his gun it some how 😏 discharged into the floor and bullet fragments hit three of the officers in the legs all treated and released the gun cleaner is a six year veteran of the police force .

Which still comes back, each and every time, to operator error. Blaming a striker fired gun because some folks can't keep their booger hook off the bang switch is no different than the liberals blaming all guns (especially evil black rifles) for murders/shootings. The common denominator, whether it be ND/AD's or crime, is that there is a human being holding the device.

Funny how when items are assembled with different parts how things can change. Take an engine.. if the heads are machined undersize and installed it will give the engine more compression. If the camshaft is on the high limit the lobes will be larger and allow more fuel in the cylinders and more horsepower.. Add all these together on an engine and they will outrun all the others coming off the assembly line. Parts wear and if one part was on the low tolerance and the other on the low they many not have matched perfectly and got thru inspection anyway. Until those guns are tore down no one knows the answer. The company will keep it as low profile as possible. Just remember humans assembled the firearms .

If a cop is walking across a parking lot and their damn gun goes off in the duty holster how is that a ND on the officer's part?? This is supposed to have been captured on the parking lot cameras. I have been within several feet of at least one, and usually more than one, loaded striker fired weapon, 24/7 for over twenty years and have never had a problem. I know that most cops are not gun people, and usually when an AD occurs it is due to operator error, but not if the gun is in the holster (and the gun and holster have not been modified). There must be something going on here and I have trouble believing it would be that hard to figure it out.

Funny how my Dodge Cummins went full throttle one afternoon on the interstate. I am lucky I didn't run over someone. turned off the key and the brakes were smoking to get it stopped. Seems a sensor in the transmission told the computer to go full throttle. Same with these firearms. If the parts are defective in the gun the operator is not responsible. Now the rub... you don't think Sig is going to admit the parts are defective do you? They will brush it under the rug..

If there is a problem with that specific model of firearm that is causing it to go kapow all on it's own then that definitely needs addressed. Denigrating all striker fired guns due to the issues had by one model is akin to painting a population of humans in a bad light due to the actions of a small percentage of their population.

None of us were there to draw any kind of a conclusion... but my guess is a defective or worn out part on the firearm. Officers shoot their firearms on the range with free ammo.
