Russia has suspended gas supplies to Poland under the Yamal contract, Onet has learned unofficially. A crisis team has gathered at the Ministry of Climate. There is no announcement from Russia as to whether this is the fulfillment of the ultimatum that Vladimir Putin recently threatened. Official announcements on this matter are to be released today.

Russia will still deliver gas, only now payment must be in Rubles. Poland and Bulgaria said no, and had the gas valve shut, while other nations are seeming willing to pay in Rubles. Why not? the Russian currency has lost half its value, so take your gas at a 50% discount.
The very fact that Russia is willing to keep delivering gas to the very countries which are bankrolling Ukrainian resistance and sending Ukraine massive amounts of weapons, shows how desperate Putin is to get his hands on money.

Yupp, it is just a way of Putin trying to bolster the value of the crashing ruble. Demanding payment in rubles creates a demand for the Russian currency and prevents it from becoming totally worthless. The Russian economy and Putin may never recover from this war and the scary thing is desperate people/countries with nothing to lose may commit desperate acts.
