Today is my anniversary
37 years ago today I quit smoking, AND I DON'T MISS IT ONE BIT. 😁😁

Good for you sir.....I quit almost 41 years ago which was a week after I graduated from college and got married.
Still like the smell of a fresh lit one. 🙄

I (and your lungs) are proud of you Bubba Jr. - and you other members. Last smoke I had was in 1952 when I stole a coupe of cigs from my mom. I was in 6th grade at the time.

It was strange, after about a week from quitting I could not stand to be within 50' of anyone smoking anything. That made it easier to stay tobacco free.
There's not a lot of things that I'm very proud of, but this is number 1.

I smoked some in high school about 60 years ago cause it was the cool thing to do. They even had a smoking area at our school. Mostly all boys. A couple of the rougher girls would hang around some and smoke with the guys. They looked more like guys than girls with their short ducktail haircuts. They could fight like guys to.

good for all of you congrats on kicking a bad habit remember when that was 24/7 for years how good it was for you and how you really needed to smoke
my dad died from cancer he smoked 50 + years and quit it may have given him a few more years I will never know my brother and one of my sisters also smoked and cancer took them also and more than a few friends some smoked right up to the last breath
heaven knows I tried to be one of the "gang" and one of the smokers . I tried a few times I could never do it my body just refused any attempt .. now as a kid our house and car looked like they were on fire from all the smokers . some how I managed to squeak thru that also . but after loosing so many to cancer some one must have been watching over me saying no way no how ( well up to now any way )

I dont remember exactly when I quit,but it was a long time ago.I have a brother,2 years younger than me,retired fireman,that has smoked since his teen years.He has C.O.P.D. so bad he cant walk 20 feet without oxygen.

My wife died of lung cancer and she never smoked a cigarette in her life.

I had an incentive to quit. My daughter was having respiratory issues. I doubt If I caused them, but I was sure I didn't help her any with my smoking. I had been smoking for 18 years, and was thoroughly addicted. I was also very stubborn, and if I wanted to do something, it was going to be done. I was smoking Captain Black Gold in a pipe at the time. I told myself that when that can of tobacco was empty, I was going to quit.
I can still picture the following events clearly. I asked my daughter to bring me the trash can. She put it beside my chair. I threw in the empty can, then 3 different pipes, 2 lighters, a pack of pipe cleaners, and an ashtray.
My daughter called out to mom, "Come here and see what dad just did". She was equally shocked. She was also VERY happy that I quit. We celebrated that night in bed. That's when it sunk in that I made the right choice. 😁
