Do not short cut the prep work! Follow the surface prep instructions and you will have a great finish.

I did not have good luck with it. Felt like I wasted my money.

I prepped carefully and de-greased my parts with acetone and it still peeled and lifted easily even after baking. Probably something I did wrong, but the stuff left me unhappy. I decided to go to Dura-coat and have been totally pleased with the results.

I use the air-brush method with the Dura-coat, but you can get it in the can that has the hardener inside that you puncture to activate the product.

Best of luck on your project, and if you go with the Alum-hyde, hope it works better for you.

It’s good. Prep is the most important part.

Be sure and shake the rattle can really good and make a test spray first into a inconspicuous area of the stock.

Rustoleum truck bed liner. Use the small roller and two coats.

I've had good results on aluminum, after THOROUGH cleaning, using VHT or Rustoleum flat black stove paint. Bake at 200 degrees for several hours, stink up house, make wife mad, remove from oven, let cool a little and then rub it with a good lube. I don't like to brag, but I made a Ruger Single-Six frame look like a brand new one.

Thank you for sharing your experiences guys. Depending upon the weather I'll give it a try this coming weekend if the shipment arrives.

Ain't that the stuff women used to use back in the old days? :-)

They didn't have the matte black in stock so I tried out the semi-gloss black, kind of shinier than i wanted, but I think they turned out OK, I haven't decided if I'll do the others in same color or wait until the matte black is back in stock, What are your thoughts?
