Mower Advice
Before you start you riding mower this year,pull the shroud off the engine and clean it out.I have worked on 4 mowers this year that mice have built nest under the shroud in the cooling fins of the engine.One was a zero turn with a Kohler with a hole in the block where a connecting rod came through due to over heating.I dont know if its happening everywhere but it would not hurt to check.

I took the plastic grill cover that sits over the flywheel off and left it off. If the mower sat for 2 days they'd come back and have a nest built. Mice that is. Once I kept it off, they quit. I better consider what might be happening under the flywheel though.

too late already started mowing yesterday... about to do some more today, guess i better check... all i did was air up the tires yesterday before running it for about a hour.

every year same thing,,,had a mower that i redone some years back did not need it left it covered in barn, years time whent by ,i thought of it last year i got it out , the GD mice had filled the engine under shroud with poop and pizz i had to take aports to dig it out and wash the engine still stinks when i start it

Guess thats one advantage of having the snow blower on the mower. Still is on there and its supposed to snow Monday.

I always leave the "hood" in up position which really helps the mouse scenario!

I think it was Snagle Tooth Tiger that said it best, ‘I hate meesses to pieces.’
I have some tomcat meesse poison on my workbench in the barn. I hate to use it in case a mouse makes it outside and other critters could get it. But, no more horses, so no more hay and stacking in nice spots for the cats, and leaving doors open for ventilation. Plus with tractors and vehicles in there now, I don’t want what the post is about.
