I shopped in a new store today called The Mommas and The Poppas grocery store. I brought home a head of lettuce but:

I also remember hearing all the rumors about Mama Cass Eliot choking to death on a sandwich. Fairly sure they were just rumors but she still was dead.

At 220+ lbs. ... The autopsy determined that Elliot had died of heart failure, and that no food was present in her windpipe.

Ft. Polk. Had a Basic Training Company. Our Bn Commander had just got a new civilian secretary. She complained about some of our (ahem) marching songs, and the boss asked us to lighten up. So the next day, as we passed Bn HQ, we sang a new cadence for the first time. And it WAS a winter's day.....
Yep, a 225 man chorus of California Dreamin'. Bn Commander broke up.
