Jif recall
Jif issues voluntary recall of certain peanut butter products due to potential Salmonella contamination
The J.M. Smucker Company is recalling multiple Jif peanut butter products because of potential Salmonella contamination that has caused at least 14 people to become sick so far.
Saw this and checked the cupboard. Yupp, our jar falls in the range for the recall. Only about two tablespoons left in the jar so we may have dodged the bullet. Since this was jar #2 of the 2 pack we bought at Sams club, I guess we were fortunate not having any problems. Food recalls/warnings are tough because usually the food is eaten before any warnings are issued.
Anyway, I thought I would pass this along in case any of you guys have any in the pantry. Bob

Since JIF is........one of my basic staples of life..........along with Welch's Grape Jelly........I may be in serious trouble!! 😳
Gotta go check some numbers............while strangely feeling hungry 😋.

My wife checked all the jars we have, and none of them fall in the recall range. WHEW!!!!!!!!!

I do not think it is any coincidence that Jif is produced in Lexington, Kentucky, less than two hundred miles from Owensboro, the birthplace of Johnny Depp. That Amber Heard claims to have consumed only Skippy her entire life, it is not a far reach to believe that she may have had a hand in the poisoned Jif, especially since Depp and Heard have a Bichon Frise named "Sally", a possible diminutive of "Salmonella".

the jar we're using right now is in the recall range , about a 1/3 of it's been used and nobody sick yet

We have 2 - 40 oz. jars that fall within the range, bought at Costco. The press releases I've seen characterize this as a "voluntary recall", but the details tell you to "discard" any remaining product. Has anyone seen anything about taking it back for refund or replacement? Costco is usually pretty good about these things, so I think I'll give it a try.

Sams took it back no problem issued credit. They pulled all the JIF off of their shelves.

Well the one we have is listed as problematic by the UPC code indicated in the link LF posted, but as best i can tell it is not in the range listed, the numbers near the "best by date" on ours are 3 or 4 more digits longer than the range they listed... Have already used it some so we will continue I guess.

Wife likes JIF Chunky. Has one that was 1/2 gone. She omplained of diarrhea a few nights back, all is well now. Jar is gone now.
I use Skippy, have since I was a kid.

I bought Jif from Bj's. I called them today, they said bring it back. We have been into it for 3 weeks.

I checked the three jars we have. None in the UPC code listed, we eat Simply Jif, less sugars. Guess I'll roll the dice.

These constant recalls are a real PITA these days!! Just received a letter from the VA informing me that my BP meds may be laced with some carcinogenic material and I should dispose of any with a certain date of manufacture.
Only problem, besides being a nearly empty bottle is that there is no DOM on the bottle. Just an expiration date!! 😲
