my point is how did the human race get to the point where formula is a necessity. we survived up to the point where it was invented. i do understand that we have healthier babies now and probably more babies survive today than they did in the past and im all for that. however i dont believe all babies are on formula because of it being a necessity but more because its a convenience. now once a mother starts down that road you are kind of dedicated to it. and all that being said, i really dont understand why we are experiencing the number of shortages that we are. it would seem to me that with more competent management of corporations and government we could overcome problems such as this. theres more to this whole story than meets the eye

The FDA should have put out the push to replace the shuttered supply the day they closed the Michigan plant. Formula has a shelf life and expired inventory is expensive. Competent management means that the supply of product and raw materials is in line with anticipated need. I have no idea how much of the US market was served by this plant, and can't find any information other than the lazy reporting that Abbot has a 40% market share. One assumes that Abbot has other facilities that are still operating.

The raw material that Abbot had scheduled for this plant had to have gone somewhere. We know from the administration that they jumped right on the problem when they first heard of it 2 weeks ago. The problem was anticipated in December, the plant was closed in February.

Was raw material scheduled for that plant re-directed to operating plants?

    Were operating plants at capacity?

If operating plants were at capacity, what was the outreach to foreign sources?

These are questions that should have been asked and answered as soon a the Michigan plant was closed. The fact that they obviously were not asked and answered at that time reveals the problem with have career government employees making decisions they are too stupid to know they are unqualified to make.

All of DM’s comments are on point. This is just another screw up by an administration that is made up of people who are just in the job for their political persuasion and with no real experience in any business.

With the Michigan plant providing what I have heard was 80% of the formula for all of the WIC program. It does take more than one brain cell to tell you that if you shut the plant down you need to come up with new sources ASAP.

Part of me wants to put on my tin foil hat and say this is all a conspiracy, to what end I have no idea.

Part of me says this is just Biden/governmental incompetence.

Intentional, incompetence. Intentional, incompetence. Intentional, incompetence. Try picking the goodies out of THAT basket!!

What the Hell is happening to our country??😲

I think a lot of it is caused by hoarding, transportation shortages and costs along with the closure of the plants by the FDA.

The politicians as usual want to throw money at it until it gets off the radar screen when the real problems are self inflicted.

Why was there no shortage when everything was shut down?

Why are we supplying it free to illegal aliens crossing the border, I for one don't give a flip about them or their children.

Why wasn't the plant(s) that were shut down reopened after the faults were fixed?

I think a major problem is that the media spouting about the shortage makes everyone feel like they need to buy every bit of formula that they lay eyes on....even if its not your brand or type just in case it comes down to it. So, everyone is hoarding as much as they can get. I have to fight the urge to run into every store I pass to grab what I can. We are set for a while, but just looking at the bare shelves here and there have wired my brain to be on the lookout. My daughter has enough for the next three months....hopefully this craziness will be over by then.

On a side note, Susie....I need you to message me where to send your check! 😊

"more competent management of corporations and government"

    THAT is the issue!

Well....I stand by the above statement.....incompetent management of corporations and GOVERNMENT IS THE ISSUE!😬👍

I would assume that part of the issue lies in the consumer. Just as what happened with the great TP shortage/hand sanitizer shortage of 2020, an issue arises (Abbott being shut down) impacts shelf supply and mindsets of folks thinking that there will be a shortage. Everyone rushes out and empties the shelves, stockpiling a three month supply. This left none for those who were late to the news. Now the hoarders are sitting on a stockpile. Each time a shipment arrives he who is there first buys up all they can afford. Again, shelves are empty and a few more have a three month supply.

Incompetent government not anticipating that a 40% reduction of supply might scare the bejeebers out of peeps with little people shows that our current administration is reactive instead of proactive. Yeah, they are from the government and are here to help.

Newest issue on the horizon is the monkeypox. BOHICA!

    @Locust Fork are we good?

There is no formula shortage at Joe Biden's welcome stations along our open border with Mexico.

My granddaughter is expecting any day now. I told her to name the baby Jose Jimanez and she would get all the baby formula free from Joe Biden.

I think all these issues can be traced back to one source, the AH that tried to destroy this country when he was the head monkey. BHO.

FJB is sending in the military! Thank god you are in charge ! 🙄

I wonder who thought that up. I assume they will fly C-17s which cost about 2x as much to fly as a commercial jet.

I bet they will be handing out all kinds of medals and maybe even have a commemorative patch for "Operation Fly Formula". They may even get old fatso Miley to ride one of the pallets in.

    C&P

    • The first flights of infant formula from Europe will arrive in Indiana aboard military aircraft this weekend
    • The White House says 132 pallets of Nestlé Health Science Alfamino Infant and Alfamino Junior formula will leave Ramstein Air Base in Germany
    • The formula is headed to Indianapolis, Indiana
    • Another 114 pallets of Gerber Good Start Extensive HA formula are expected to arrive in the coming days
    • The Biden administration has dubbed the effort 'Operation Fly Formula,' as it struggles to address nationwide shortages of formula

It seems that every day we sink to new lows. My guess is the rest of the world is either fearful or overjoyed depending on their politics.

Commercial planes is the obvious answer. Biden's handlers are using US Military planes for the same reason that the US Government took over the supply and distribution of COVID 'vaccines' and other treatments - they want the Federal Government to control the distribution to create further dependency upon the Federal Government at the same time as showing already over-worked C-17s as the Federal Saving of the populace.

@Don McManus in the article its states FJB wanted the "pentagon" to use commercial aircraft but the "pentagon" couldn't find any.

Who is the "Pentagon" and how in the heck can they not locate a commercial aircraft? The "Pentagon" has all kinds of commercial aircraft on contract. I have been flown all over the world on them when we were not going to jump in or make a forced entry.

But you are spot on the Fed wants everyone dependent on them so they can do away with the republic that this country was founded as.

They are building the pallets as we watch. 31 tons are in the air coming to the US thanks to FJB.

Think this air-person can pass the height and weight standards or a PT Test? I doubt it.

"OPERATION FLY FORMULA".....that's one of the cheesiest titles anyone could come up with. A classic example of this administrations leadership.

Here it is. C-17 landed in Indiana with 70,000 pounds of baby formula!

I heard that this baby formula that is being flown in isn’t really baby formula so to speak, but a formula for babies that are lactose intolerant. Not sure how that works. I would wager the country sending us the formula is not going to cut their own people short of formula, they are probably a little smarter than are leaders here.

I just did a little search around the internet for people selling baby formula like AMZ and _bay. It looks like there is a lot of price gouging out there to include AMZ. That is kind of sad to see its not like it 22lr ammo.
