You'll just have to use your imagination but I certainly didn't call him a fruitcake. I happen to like fruitcake, especially the rum soaked ones and wouldn't compare them with the bombastic, bellicose blathering of that ignorant poster. Bob

Some people do not react well when an error is pointed out. Sadly, this gentleman doubled down on his mistake and lashed out.
Hopefully he will learn from this experience, and at some point in his life will enjoy the feel of an M1 Garand sending a a few M2 ball projectiles downrange.

What made it bad for me is that upon reading his first post, I was excited by the prospect of his possibly having a gas-trap Garand. For those unaware, the gas trap actually traps gas at the muzzle rather than bleeding it off through a port in the barrel. The chances of the rifle being a genuine gas-trap would be 10,000 to one, but 15 years ago we did find a genuine gas-trap posted by a new forum member.
It turns out to have been a big mistake. He had his firearms confused. Nevertheless, Garands and Carbines are very pricey, and I don't want to see anyone throwing their money away on things that they don't understand. The OP didn't see it that way and took offense. I couldn't allow his poor attitude to slide, so I did what I felt was right for the forums.
On a personal note, I am flattered by those members who feel that I am a sort of expert in the subject of the M1 Rifle. Although I have made the Garand the focus of my firearms collecting, when I attend the Garand Collectors Association meetings and mingle with the genuine experts (guys who have written books), I'm an also ran.
Even so, I love the M1 Rifle, and I will always try to lend help and advice on that subject.

No clue what a gas trap was.. thanks for posting that. Didn't even know they made them. About like the MID I purchased around the corner from the house that was advertised in a state trader paper. Seller said he got it thru some kind of lottery. It came with a scope and mount of some kind that was never put on the gun. I went and bought it not really knowing the valuation or rarity He sold it cheap like under 1k. I done some research and got extra paperwork from somewhere down south.. I had the other paperwork for it verifying it was a real M1D. Ended up listing it on GB and when the smoke cleared from the intense bidding I made around 4k on it . One of the better deals I have done on GB. And whomever done the disagree on my above post...Thanks... 😃

He talked about an M1 garand but posted pics of a carbine. Most people were confused. Personally, I'm still not sure which gun was actually for sale. I assume the carbine, unless he tooks pics from somewhere other than the auction!

That is curious: I wonder if he doesn't know the difference between the rifle and the carbine (despite his insistence to the contrary!) or he posted the wrong pictures (twice!). With his attitude problems, we will never know.

That would be an argument on what kind of molasses is the best? With Pabst beer and pickled sardines in mustard or ketchup? Pretty extreme it is.
