Can I shoot steel shot in Savage Model 30 Pump shotgun, specifically 3 inch?

  Depends on the choke.

  Do you know what the choke is, full, modified, improved?

  Annnnd does it have a 3 inch chamber?

  Its got a 3 inch chamber, and I have two barrels, one 30 inch full and a 28 inch improved cyl with a rib.

  Yes through the imp/cyl and no through the full choke. Bob

  from what i think i understand the imp/cyl should shoot steel in a pattern similar to a modified choke with lead shot.

  Both barrels 3 in chambered?

  Modified is the smallest choke for steel shot in most shotguns.
