Any of you farmers ever used 'Chaparrel' herbicide?
I've got a bunch of Canada Thistle I'm trying to get knocked back and am tired of reading the round-a-bout directions. How many ounces of this stuff should I put in a 25 gallon tank? If I read it right it'll be 2.5 ounces. I'll be spot spraying with a wand.
Do you recommend a surfactant and if so which one and how much?
Thanks!

I read 2.5 ounces per hundred gallons spot spraying. I use 2,5 ounces roundup per gallon for spraying strips in the pecan grove. Don

Thanks, Don. 5/8 of an ounce don't seem like much. What I have is the pelletized version that has to be mixed in the water.

Already have the Chaparrell. We went this route because it can be used on pastures that are actively being grazed.

Looks like 1.3 oz/20 gallons at 40 gallons per acre (if I'm reading the card right).
I'll give that a whirl and see how it goes.

This super low rate stuff concerns me. I don't trust it. Sure, it makes neat little packages but I'd much rather have 2x bigger package and 1/2 the worry over distribution.

I've used the chaparral in a 110 gallon boom sprayer on thistle and other broadleaf weeds in my pasture, it works OK but I had better results with grazon. Thistle is really tough to get rid of but spot spraying will work if you soak the plant well, I don't remember the size of the bottle but I believe I used one bottle of the granular chaparral to each tank 110 gallons. as for surfactant I have used Dawn dish soap mixed in to the tank, it works OK and is a lot cheaper to buy. Sorry I can't be more specific on the mixture ratio.
