Wireless internet provider - home network setup help, if you're able
My provider is a wireless company that beams their signal to a dish on my house. At my house I have LOS to the tower so the dish works. On my in-laws place (just next door) they do not have LOS to the tower. And other than this provider internet service is sketchy... even a cellular hot spot is only so-so.
But my connection and this provider is really good.
So, my thought is to just share my connection with the in-laws. Problem is I'm not sure the best way to do it. For the moment, they are just skimping by on the weak signal they get from my router.
It seems my options are these.
Honestly, I am not sure how to do #1 or #2 here, given the distance between homes is about 60 feet

I already talked to them, and they told me "we really don't care what happens downstream of our receiving dish and we don't police it".

If they are only 60 feet away an extender may be the simplest solution. Some of the better ones claim they can cover a 6000 sq ft dwelling so I would think one plugged in an outlet closest to your in-laws should reach. As far as installation they are pretty much plug and play. If you go this route be sure to get one that has a secure network feature so that only your in-laws can access it. Bob

Curious, 60 feet isn’t very far, what is obstructing the line of sight? If it is a tree, didn’t you say you bought a new Stihl chain saw a while back? I’m not very smart when it come to electronics, something like a WiFi maybe?

You might need to check if your provider “rents” extenders for their system and prohibits private companies products from working with their system. That is what we ran into this year.
live got AT&T Uverse We had Lynx’s extenders that we’re fine for over 2 years, then our internet quit working and when they came out 2 days later and explained my internet was not working because I had the nerve to buy my own extenders to make their crappy product work and I would need to pay them extra to rent something so what I buy from them would work at minimal expectations.
