68 year old buys kayak
It's been 10 or more years since I've been on the river. I only live six miles from it. A couple of weeks ago, a friend talked me into going with him. I had forgotten how much fun it was, especially on a hot summer day.

Sold my Hobie Pro Angler 14 two years ago and bought a bass boat. The kayak just got too hard to lift atop my Toyota Highlander and down again - twice for each trip. Not to mention hauling it up the hill from my back yard to the driveway.
The bass boat is effortless to launch and retrieve in comparison.

I have a 12 ft Fishing Kayak.....fun and relaxing times on the water..

I prefer a kayak myself....I have two...a 10.5' and a 13.5 foot. There is just something tranquil about quietly paddling across a lake or down a river.
It also allows you to sneak up on and see some wonderful wildlife.

My youngest son marred into a family a couple of them love to kayak
As for me at 65 I still avoid the water I never learned to swim . the few times I have ventured in I could count one one hand .Long story short version my mom was terrified we would drown so we were never allowed even wading in shallow water was forbidden
By the way I sent both my sons to swimming lessons very early on and my wife loves to swim

In the 80's and 90's I got hooked on tube fishing for bass.
Kitchen passes were frequent on Sunday mornings, as long as I was able to supply largemouth filets for Sunday lunch.
My Fishmaster tubes(one backup) are in the garage.........somewhere......sigh.....

Everything here will eat you if given a chance, one of the first lessons learned as a child is "don't dangle your feet in the water".
A lesson I still remember and respect.

Yep........I can relate.....sorta.
Most of my fishing was done in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma.
Still.......watching a four foot gar swim by......a couple of feet from your legs.......gives one PAUSE!!!!!
Then there's finding assorted snakes sunning themselves on the back of the tube.
Makes ya want to walk on water......at times. 😀

The difference is here we have sharks, alligators, crocodiles and water moccasins and most of the fresh water is dark with tannins so you can't see what's about to get you.

I upgraded my kayak this spring from 22' to 25' , although I believe Rocky's boat is waaay better on fuel. 😁

Look at the bathtub ring on the dikes. That reservoir is now six feet lower than when the photo was taken. It now has less than two feet of water in the marinas and the ramps are nearly unusable. But the guy who bought my kayak can still get out easily. So there's sweet and sour to everything.
