GREENWOOD, Ind. —
Three people were fatally shot and two were injured Sunday evening at an Indiana mall after a man with a rifle opened fire in a food court and an armed civilian shot and killed him, police said.
The man entered the Greenwood Park Mall with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition and began firing in the food court, Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison said.

The suspect is also dead after opening fire in the food court of the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana, police said.
Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison said the department received calls of an active shooter in the mall's food court at about 6:05 p.m.
The suspected shooter had a rifle with several magazines of ammunition, and he entered the food court and began shooting, Ison said.
The chief said a good Samaritan who was armed shot the gunman, who appeared to use a long gun, according to Ison. The suspect was "shot by an armed individual," Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers also said."

Well, lastest, mall doesn't allow concealed carry and the good guy came out of bathroom and shot the murderer, police chief calls the individual that he most likely saved many lives that evening. Charges, ? well if I was him, trial by jury if it comes to that..

Carrying in a mall that posts no carry is not illegal. It only becomes illegal if you are ask to leave and you refuse, then you are trespassing. At least that’s how it works in my home state.

I've got a concealed Carry License here in Ky . "Concealed Deadly Weapons License" Firearm goes every wehere I go except for where the Law say NO (Government Buildings)
Posting a Sign in Indiana about no Firearms allowed is not a Law.. They can ask you to leave . if you don't, the Mall can call it trespassing and call the police. Even in most events they will just walk you outside and watch till you drive away.
I do feel for the person that took down the Shooter, He was in the right , but will still have some thought processes to go over about what happened.

I read one article about the situation and they hit really hard on how it is against the Mall's rules to carry on their premises. Not much on how the guy likely saved a lot of folks with his quick action...

Depends on state law. Some state laws make a crime just by being on the property with the sign. Other states the property owner has to sign a trespass complaint against you.

I did see later on he had his gun with him
now the anti-gunners are mad because he was armed in a gun free zone . they seem to not care about the bad guy killing and having one

More info Shooter spent over an hour in the Bathroom next to food court. Was a 20 Year with a Sig Sauer Ar Type rifle. Extra Magazines. Left another firearm in the bathroom and tried to his flush his phone.
Left a laptop and a butane can in a oven, that was on in his apartment. Eviction notice and unemployed.
Leaving the bathroom and 24 Shots killing 3 , injuring 2 more. In two mins from the first shot, he was stopped. Good Guy fired up to 10 shots.
Under 21, Had over $ 2,500 worth of firearms ( Ar-15), Seems he had to get sicced up to go. Sounds familiar. No wonder the Leftist anti-gun folks were mad ,the Shooter was stopped so soon. Did not fulfill the narrative, they wanted to push thier ajenda forward.. I might going overboard here.

GREENWOOD, Ind. — While police are crediting a Bartholomew County man for shooting and killing a suspect in the Greenwood Park Mall shooting, mall policy states he should not have been carrying to begin with.
Greenwood Police Chief James Ison confirmed Sunday that the shooter was shot and killed by a man visiting the mall. The Good Samaritan, as police called him, was armed with a handgun.
“The real hero of the day was the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in the food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began,” Ison said.
Police say the 22-year-old from Bartholomew County had a legal gun permit. However, according to mall policy, the man should not have been carrying his handgun in the mall in the first place.
Last updated in April 2020, Simon Property Group states in its code of conduct that no weapons are allowed at their shopping centers. The group is the owner of the Greenwood Park Mall.
The property group has worked with Greenwood police for several planned security technology upgrades after recent incidents at the mall including two incidents where employees were held at gunpoint in the parking lot.

I have heard less about this shooting than most mall shootings. I think anti-gun people have always feared something like this would happen, and they certainly don't want to encourage law-abiding folks to carry.

That is an iffy option if you live in progressive leftist community. That guy in N.Y.stabbing the bad guy would still be under indictment if it was not for the video he had in place.

In our state the landlord cannot prohibit legal carry guns in the common areas of the property. Be it an apartment building or mall. Only the tenants can prohibit carry into their respective businesses or apartments.
