one of those weeks / days
I have had pain in my abdomen for too long old and stubborn so I gave in tired of hurting
I had some blood test and ct scan came back gallbladder stones OH boy but aug 28th is as soon as I can even see a surgeon to go over the procedure ,
my screw up I should have never waited but now another 6 to 8 weeks more pain what the heck its just part of life any more
speaking of pain
I also have our front porch torn off and in process of rebuilding it . after 100 yrs + the framing it was too far gone
so while waiting on some lumber to come in
I jumped on another project I have been dragging my feet on,
I had a single car garage catch fire it gutted it big time a dehumidifier caused it .. that was about two years ago insurance fellow told me they are the worst thing to have , countless fires and people have lost there house even there lifes due to them, side note my insurance company went over board making it right for me I cant say enough about there efforts
any way I was moving right along getting it torn down and cleaned up
my oldest son had started helping before he headed out west on vacation on Friday morning .
so I was just plugging away best I could , cutting up a lot of the lumber to burn and stripping the metal roof off
by the way pulling all the nails out of the metal roof a good suggestion a pair of end nippers and 18" long 1/2 pipes added to the handles is the cats "butt " 😁 ey clip the nail heads right off if you find your self removing a old tin roof
any way back to the pain issue I stepped on a 2x10 with several 16 penny nails my son had cut out and left it burred under some other boards I stepped down hard it felt like it went up to my knee . I had to pry my foot loose .. that was Friday night still swollen and sore so no real progress on the projects this weekend 😥 hope it starts feeing a little better so I can at least walk on it tomorrow
oh well rant over some days you just cant win LOL
over the years I lost track of nails I stepped on working construction but I had fast reflexes back then as soon as I felt and friction or even the point of the nail making contact with my foot I backed off
. old age got me again 😲 I had already committed to all my weight going on my right foot and well I paid the price
like a dummy I was just wearing new balance tennis shoes I have always worn good work boots and have told my wife to the same countless times when doing such projects ,, I don't have to say what my wife told me your guess will be close enough

Sorry for your troubles D\R! If you haven't had a tetanus shot in recent years, you should get one ASAP.
The fire caused by your dehumidifier? What kind of dehumidifier were you using? I run a General Electric unit down in my finished basement and often leave it running unattended. Your story gives me pause, as I may from now on be paying close attention and totally stop use while sleeping!

Thanks just late and venting lol
Not sure the last time I had a shot at least 3 years I use to be a frequent visitor for stitches and repair work just always working on cars and assorted projects the sharp edges well I got my share of scars
My insurance adjuster told me to do a internet search as so many were made by the same Chinese company just branded by who ever wanted ther name on them
We have one in our basement for many years it's not close to any thing else I don't recall thename maybe because it's a older one
The adjuster told me he had seen so many houses and garages with fire damage or total losses and many insurance company's ping out countless claims that he would never have one in anything he owned .said most people including me have no idea how many fires they have caused from overheating
He took what was left of ours said just as proof and the odds of the insurance company ever getting a dime back was for the part impossible from China
But if you do a search ther is a list and a lot of feed back about them
But I am very cautious with ours

I stepped on a 3 foot 2x4 that had a 16d nail protruding, I was on a construction job. I was wearing tennis shoes. The nail is 3 1/2 inches long, minus 1 1/2 inches for the board, thin sole on the shoe, that nail ran 1 3/4 inches up into my foot. Nearly went all the way through the foot.
Damn, that hurt.

Two things come to mind:
1: Just what part of a dehumidifier would cause such a widespread(according to the insurance dude) fire hazard? I've worn out 3-4 dehumidifiers and the failures were due to compressor failure-not electrical.
2: Working/walking around nail ridden boards in 'tennis shoes' defies logic.

Sorry to offend, however, I went to school when we learned how to actually diagram sentences and spell correctly. Grammar is kind of a thing with me...........as in, I do not appreciate ebonics or ghetto speak. Also can't stand an un-punctuated paragraph full of run on sentences.

I do understand your frustration however I just never gave a crap about such things
Working as a young fellow with a shovel and Jack hammer I discovered none of the correct spelling or grammar made any difference to how hard or fast I had to work
If I was writing for a living I may have different thoughts
but just posting random thoughts on a web site For passing time well I still don't care

Sorry, for you're misfortunate Ditchrunner. Pay no intention 2 the grammer nazies. This is a gun forum maid up primary of old guys whome are lucky to draw there next breadth, end we gots no thyme four spelling checking and puntciashon, much less stretchering sentses and paragrafs!! Glad to hear ya got a good kid whose willing to lend a hand ounce in a while. 😉

My son broke a bone in his right hand yesterday (4th metacarpal) and today my 84 year old MIL fell and broke her right humerus.

For what it is worth, I have passed 52 kidney stones the last 35 years. Someone told me about "CHanca Piedra" (stone breaker) about 4 years ago. I had just had x-rays that showed I had 2 small stones in each kidney and bought and took a months worth of the Stone Breaker. The next year had x-rays and only had one small stone in left kidney. Urologist stated that I must have passed them and my exact words to him where: "I have passed 52 kidney stones and know exactly what it feels like to do so and I have not passed any but I have been taking the Chanca Piedra". Suppose to work for Gall Stones also. So for what it is worth it might work for you instead of having to be in pain for 2 months. Just my experience.

I have had kidney stones at least once first time around 1980 or so I remember too well the pain that hit me about 2 am one morning when I did pass them they were just about bb size
as far as my gallbladder stones they do hurt but nothing terrible for now

It was just late when I posted about it .
Just a rant about a run of bad luck While up watching TV
Like most even on here at 65 I have my share of scars and mended bones from accidents and stupid things I should have know better
I can relate to the wheelbarrow clips lol
Countless hours of pushing one when younger and working construction if it could go wrong it did
I want to just say and add in complaining about nuance pain and bad luck I am glad I am still around to do so.
I think often about so many who lost there life's or mobility in wars, as just young kids that never had the chance to even live to have such stories .
There sacrifices is what allowed me to get old and complain they are the true hero's
In comparison a few scars and nail holes are nothing
