Going to guess it was modified for whatever blank cartridge was available at the time.

A few other things don't look right either.

That muzzle is about .48 caliber. Weird.

A good example of ‘lens perspective’. The closer an object is to the camera/lens the bigger it appears vs. anything in the background. The front sight is huge compared to the rear.

Try photographing just the ‘head’ of your sweetheart with a normal lens (50mm on a 35mm camera).

She won’t like the ‘size’ of her nose ,,,,, and you might not like what you get for dinner !! 😂

Forgemonkey nailed it. It’s like when people take a picture of the fish they caught, they hold it out at arms length to make it look bigger. Never trust a fisherman to tell the truth, only kidding.

The rifle also has a "rebated" muzzle to protect the actual muzzle rim from wear, Shadow makes it look like bigger caliber.

Regardless it was more than enough rifle to take care of rabid dog!

It must be a bored out muzzle because forced perspective is not going to make a .30 barrel look nearly that big. Don't make me get my rifle and my camera and prove it.
