Gas Powered Golf Cart

I'm working on an old(1987) EZGO gas powered golf cart.It been sitting,out of the weather for about 20 years.Put a new battery and cleaned the tank ,put in some fresh gas/oil mix(its a 2 cycle) and it started and ran but had no power and would barely move.Tore the engine down and got the acorns and mice nest out of the engine,put in a new piston and rings,cleaned the carb and reed valve in the ultrasonic,put in a new NGK spark plug and it runs exactly like it did before I did all the work on it.It has 95 pounds of compression which is a little low, probably due to cylinder wear.Perry Shooter could have told me how to fix it but anybody else have any ideas?

  Check the muffler. Might be plugged up. Don

  what dcon said, that would be the first place to look. how much compression? 120psi would b excellent. make sure high speed carb jet is clean.

  Removed the muffler,same problem.

  is the centrifical clutch slipping???????? or govenor set to low

  I bought an EZ GO gas powered 4 stroke cart a little over 3 years ago. A 96 model called the Medalist, which has a steel chasse. The unit did run but had no working brakes and kept shorting out the coil every time I would get a mile or two down the two track road near my house. Ordered all my brake and ignition parts through Amazon.

  
  

  I kept replacing coils but after the 3rd one, decided to seek expert help. Found a guy working at a local golf coarse who took delivery of my cart and had it for a couple of months. He was a very busy fellow who tinkered during his off hours at work. Anyway, got a call to come pick up my cart. All fixed! Took it out for a test run at the golf coarse before loading it up and holy cow! That thing flew like an eagle (for an 11HP machine). He had adjusted the governor for max speed and power as well as replacing many of the Chinese import Amazon parts with EZGO factory parts.

  
  

  Valuable lesson learned! Chinese junk was cause of my coil problems. Anyway, my 2500 dollar cart took another thousand to get a fun and dependable machine. Worth every penny!
