Funny Customer Issue, From A Long Time Ago, Locust Fork Will Enjoy This
Can you take down a Davis P-380? The procedure is the same as it is with a number of inexpensive zinc alloy autos. Push in on the takedown plug at the rear of the slide, then lift the slide off the frame.
I figured out how to take down the first such pistol I ever saw, so I didn't feel like it required a degree in rocket surgery to take one apart.
I know the Davis P-380 is a POS, but they generally work, with FMJ ammo, and I sold one to a Gunbroker buyer, several years ago. I'll never forget the transaction. NEVER.
I shipped the gun out. I heard back from the buyer that he was having trouble with it, and wanted to return it, so I told him to go ahead.
When I got it back, the problem he had with the gun was obvious. He wanted to take it down, but had no clue how to do so. He had taken a screwdriver or similar tool, and tried to PRY THE SLIDE OFF THE FRAME!!!
Of course, he broke the frame and the slide in the process.
Now, get this: He demanded a full refund, including shipping both ways. He was just a little disappointed I reckon. I figured all I had of the gun that was worth having was the magazine and the grips. So, I refunded him the wholesale value of the magazine and grips.
I never heard from him again, and that's OK.

...😁...those are the type of people that should not be allowed outside, by themselves...you would think if he had a problem w/takedown, he would just ask someone...duh...

If he had just run a couple mags through it, the slide would have come off the frame as the natural order of progression took place. 😏

sxsnuf is correct. I once had a Davis P-32 pistol in, naturally, .32 ACP. I never learned how to take it apart; it figured out how to do it on its own!

Have had a P-380 Davis around for a while. Yesterday I figured I'd check it out.
P-380 slide, the rest is a 32ACP barrel and frame.
Showed my wife and we are both, wondering how it ended up that way.
Yes, it does shoot withe 32 ACP.

That is soooo funny. I wonder sometimes what hell these people put their surrounding township through....every purchase at every store is like a land mine. Will this guy re-wire his lamp in a way that it burns his house down and he blames the lamp sales guy? Probably.
I actually got a phone call from someone wanting a refund for a gun he bought three years ago the other day. It turns out he is in California and couldn't have the gun.....we have no clue what we did, probably relisted the gun after a year or so. It was a cheap nothing of a thing, either a Hipoint or Davis....I am not even playing these crazy games anymore. I just told him we have no clue what happened, but the restocking fee was going to be the cost of the gun anyway.
