My elder brother was throwing fire crackers like a hand grenade as i lite the fuse when he held it ready to throw. One fuse popped the fire cracker immediately and serious pain on fingers.

We used a slingshot to launch cherry bombs back in the day. Some of them would fly a city block, and some would go off in the air if you aimed high enough.

Well Don, because of the holiday, I didn't want to take the chance of offending any of the p.c. crowd and confusing them with the term woman. Don't worry I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

Fortunately, with WW2 pinups you don't have to check to closely for a 5 o'clock shadow or an Adams apple. I have a description for those folks too, but I don't want to be banned! Bob

Bob, I just call them PIGs.

That's an acronym standing for Person of Indeterminate Gender.

Back when creeks were clear and goggle eyed fish (green sunfish) were plentiful my fishing partner and I discovered that cherry bombs would go off in water, even under water.

We could throw a cherry bomb back up under overhanging brush and limbs where the big'un's lived and when several rushed up to see the fizzing insect we would get several at the same time. We would lure them out by throwing grasshoppers on the water first so as to get them baited up for the cherry bomb.

Heard in later years that cherry bombs got banned???(too destructive maybe)
